Feral kittens update

The feral kittens which were at the back of a neighbour's shed reappeared and were obviously unwell as they were doing very loose poos everywhere.

The neighbour has young kids so obviously worried about them catching something from the poos.

He called Environmental Health who have agreed to come out today sometime. Will they get the kittens to safety if possible? Hope they won't poison them like they do with rats:(

When the guy came out the kittens were missing again. he wasn't amused.

There's a lady coming today who loves cats and thinks she can get them into a trap...if, of course, they are there when she arrives. She says she will keep them if she can get them.
  • Thanks for the update.I really hope she manages to trap them.

It shouldn't really matter whether the cats are about or not. You just set a trap and bait it- pilchards, that's what works apparently- and wait.

Well the first lady didn't bother to show up so I finally managed to get a cat rescue that said they could help...I contacted loads of them and every single one said no, apart from this one.

This lady's coming this evening with a remote control cat trap...so fingers crossed they will finally be taken to a place of safety.

I stocked up on Kit e Kat and have been putting food out for them, much to the disgust of one grumpy neighbour, so at least they're not starving any more.

I second that. You are wonderful for what you have done and are doing.Did you get the only one who would help from the list i gave you? My friend has been asking how you got on,and if others said they couldn't help(and i really don''t know why,for heaven's sake!) it would be good for him to know.

Yes thanks Froglet, I did get it from your list. I went to Catchat and looked at all the cat rescues in my area and contacted every single one of them. One said the only thing they could do is come for the kittens when they're older, neuter them, and bring them back to me!

I said that's no good, I can't take them in because my two dogs would go nuts, and anyway what are they supposed to do in the meantime? So they said they can't do anything then.

All the others just said sorry, full to the brim, can't help at all.

The lady who's coming this evening sounds promising, she rang me back and said she'll bring a remote control trap and put food in it to entice the kittens in. The poor mites are so hungry I'm really hopeful they'll take it. The food I've put out has been scoffed immediately but I don't know if it's the kittens or an adult cat strolling along the entry who couldn't believe his luck!

They are adorable little things...the braver one is black with 4 white socks and a white bib, while the timid one's white with black smudges. I'm sure the cat rescue will have no trouble finding homes for them.

I just want the poor little scraps safe.
