  • When no one is looking, sprinkle a few drops of engine oil under the car, then contact the management company again and tell them that the it appears that the car in question has a small oil leak and if left in place, could end up damaging the tarmac or concrete.

Once they think it may cost them money in repairs, they may well do something about it.

Do you guys honestly see nothing wrong with disposing of someone elses car that is not even on your own land?

Sheesh, take a step back and look at yourselves. You're no better than thieves.

Agreed, some comments on this thread are shocking.

On the parking board and on pepipoo forums I can remember quite a number of threads over the years from people whose car has been illegally scrapped whilst they were ill in hospital, had suffered a family tragedy or are simply away working abroad or other good reason not to have used or taxed it recently.

Here's one where the OP also lost most of his belongings:

Sadly no final outcome shown but please put yourselves in the shoes of the car owner. Who knows what is going on in their lives which is currently taking priority over the car? Could have belonged to an elderly driver who has passed away, could be anything really.

By the way, it's not just private car parking firms (aka 'fake ticketing parasites') who can get DVLA registered keeper's data. Anyone with reasonable cause can, by completed a V888 form and paying the few pounds fee for such data. So maybe that's the way forward, find the keeper's address and then try to help, maybe the owner is ill or has even died and the family have not prioritised doing anything about the old car?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

In the title you say 'car dumped by me' - what exactly does that mean? You dumped the car? If so sell it for scrap.

If not, I really fail to see how you can organise the scrapping of another persons motor vehicle & profit from it. If this is allowed, let me know where your car is parked so I can make a quick buck

I think 'by me' means in close proximity - EG My computer is by me. I think thats what the op meant (although it must be said I was also a bit confused by the title too).

I think the word 'near' would have been more appropriate.

Which is why, as was suggested, if the OP genuinely feels the car's been abandoned then it's best to contact the authorities and let them take the responsibility to check it out.

No, no it's not. If its not your land then its not your responsibility. As I've mentioned in the text I quoted, getting someone elses car dealt with on land that isn't even yours to worry about is as good as being a common thief. Then you come along recommending the use of the council to do the very same thing.

You still don't see the point do you? Not your land, not your issue and not your right to complain to the council. Anyone who does is an interfering little ****. I've had it happen to me, it's not nice having a letter full of threats land on the door mat.

fiancee used to live somewhere with the exact same problem, landlord owned all 3 (small) blocks and got loads of complaints, they had the offending vehicle moved and then within a few months another turned up in its place

make enough noise and they will have to do something about it, might be worth being cunning in a different way, pay a friend a tenner and ask them to view a flat up for rent in the block and when asked say that the lack of parking due to the abandoned car taking up space puts them off

    Yes, but why?

My neighbours got a scruffy back garden - does that mean I can steal his BBQ?
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?
