It sounds like someone that's seen the advert and has taken the opportunity to try and sell some 'improvements' to their disabled access.
Did you send the e-mail from hotmail too??!
I sent it on my personal email and not my uni one, yes!
But I still don't think he had any right to ask me to prove I was not a spammer.
i did not go into all the details as I knew HR had been in touch with them and my personal info is not for an admin assistant anyway but rather the manager.
I phoned this admin fella up and told him how stupid it was to consider it spam and I phoned the HR and told them that I was not happy about this,
So who knows where that leaves my application but if they are so blinded by a stupid IT policy then they need that highlighting to them.:beer:0 -

Boob jobs, bank details scams then , they are spam in my eyes not someone asking about disabled access.:beer:0 -

Spam is not just about that though - it is any unsolicited e-mail.
I agree that your issue was not taken seriously, but that is down to the way you addressed the issue.
Maybe with a major charm offensive you can pull this back, but I'm not holding my breath.:A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:AThinks Naughty Things Too Much Clique Member No 3, 4 & 5

Maybe I have done myself out of the job but it is better to tackle bad methods and to be left out in the cold than to say nothing and allow stupidity to continue.
It is clear that this department needs my skills and knowledge especially in relation to disabled people if they are like this.:beer:0 -
Phil if you spent as much time putting effort into getting a job as you do on here you would be much better off.
I can see you being here in five year's time complaining about the same things over and over and over again ad nauseum.
Right now I wouldn't employ you - you cause too much fuss. You come across as being very hard work, you don't listen, you want it all your own way.
You need a sharp change in attitude before you go any further!0 -

I'm assuming you meant 'public sector' rather than 'pubic' ! and you're very wrong. The public sector receives vast amounts of spam because their phone numbers, etc. are advertised, and their e-mail addresses are very easily worked out since they conform to a particular pattern.
As other posters and I keep trying to explain to you, 'spam' isn't just unsolicited viagra offers, it is any spurious communication and it often appears, at first glance, to be about a serious subject, or a subject that the receiver may be interested in.
I think you need to stop looking for opportunities to take offence, and look at how you are communicating with people. Your request was too vague and should have been more along the lines of 'I have applied for the post of Junior Widget Gribbler, and have been advised by John Smith in your HR Department to contact you about disabled access to the Widget Gribbling department.' The recipient of your e-mail would then have been able to affirm that you are a genuine job candidate, not just someone trying to get the name of a person in the department.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

Considering I have spent days in contact with the HR depart. I have been pressing for this job all the time.
So what if I make fuss, do companies want "yes" men or people with their own ideas and drive?:beer:0 -
Your speech there made you worthy of a Franking Machine Salesman! Honestly, that is the type of spam phone call i deal with on a daily basis, and i definately wouldnt put you through to my boss or give you any further information. So you see ou do have to prove you are not a telesales person or you just will not get to speak to the correct person.
The department does not need your skills in this area as the job you applied for is setting up conferences is it not? Not dealing with calls from possible sales persons."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of."
