Pre- interview interview

I have been offered a pre- interview for a job I really want with the objective of reviewing suitability of working environment, to clear up anything they can not read on the application form and a meeting with the head of department. Is this a standard sort of thing that can happen as I have never heard of it before?

I responded on your other thread - but you've expanded the scenario on this one.
Don't assume that people get job offers after one interview for the job - there are often a number, seeing different people in the hierarchy. Sometimes you have an informal interview (for instance when you can be shown round and meet people you would be working with) followed by a more formal one on another day. So don't be bothered about whether it is standard practice or not.
Remember to treat all the interviews as proper interviews as they can all count. And it has been known for receptionists to be asked their opinion of the candidates . . .0 -
I am going to use this first one as a two process to learn about them and then toshow them I am a human being with lots of skills and advantages. If desire and want for this job could get me it, no one wants it as much as me I don't think.:beer:0

ALL interviews should be a two way process.0 -

For most folks, when they apply for a job, they All really want it!
Most interviews nowadays aren't just one any more. Some of mine have been three or four for each. It is not unusual for this to happen. Don't go thinking that it is because you are disabled.0 -

It is to talk about disability and not a true interview.
In fact I am bit annoyed now as the Clerk will not pass me on to the relevant person now to set a time and date for this as his manager is on leave and he can validate who I am.

If it definitely to discuss disability, I'd have a read of:
http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts1995/95050--b.htm#4
then offer to go for a chat, stating that you will be bringing a personal advisor with you (with a tape recorder stuffed up his/her jumper hopefully).
If they behave in a good way, then regard this meeting as an interface with a caring/sharing company.
If they start saying that they are unable to accomodate you due to your disability, I'd start thinking about how big their company is, how many employees they have, and how deeply they are oblidged by disability discrimination laws. (i.e. if they are a two man company, they may be partially exempt, but if for example, they employ 50 people, it is less likely that they can wriggle out of their responsibility to you).

To be honest I am really upset that place would even hint spam about a request over disabled access. To me spam email is selling you penis implants not asking about access.
It is no different to saying to a woman with kids who wants flexi time prove you are not a spammer before they talk to you.
I would not have minded if they had said, can we have some more details before we can help you, but on the grounds of they assume it is a spam email.
What really hurts is that I really really wanted this job and if that is how they treat your emails then is it really the place I want to be?:beer:0 -
I am confused; you stated that there was nowhere to declare your disability on the application form and that you wondered when you should declare this to the company. You had already sent your form off at this point, so had not declared it. Am i missing something here? How do they now know you are disabled?"On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." I got in touch with the HR people and said I was disabled and they said I could have a pre- interview to talk about if it was a suitable job for me and they said email someone else about it and I did and it was this other person who said because he could not be sure if I was not a spammer that he could not help me. (see post 7)
And that has really upset me as when has disabled acess ever looked slightly like spam?:beer:0
