How do the bank know that, what come back have they got if you do not and drop them in it?

money laundering regulations fully complied with....not an issue here.the 3rd party solicitors representing bank say they will not deal with self conveyancers....despite fact self conveyancing is allowed in this country.....

No. I don't know you. That's the point.

You don't have to comply with money laundering regs. The bank does however. If the bank was dealing with a solicitor it could proceed on the basis that the solicitor has already checked you out. In order to deal with you direct the bank might therefore be obliged to check you out themselves.

Oh for goodness sake! Is this thread still going?

Look jc, you asked a question, you got a load of people answering. Pretty well all of them saying the same thing (with variations on the reason).

But it's not what you wanted to hear.

OK - ignore everyone here and take it up with the bank. Or the repossesee.

But arguing your point here and repeating the unprovable claims that you "know what you're doing"; "can Complete in 24 hours"; "have done it 6 times before"; "don't need insurance" etc gets no one anywhere.

    This thread should die.

apart from closed-shop solicitors defending their position.......
    nobody answered questions posed......

if we're all anti-self conveyancing and agree bank has no duty to take best price......i agree thread should go.

There you have it - they have stipulated a requirement for any offer and you can either accept that or not buy.

My local Tesco's has a no hoodie policy, but there is nothing illegal about wearing a hoodie so does that mean Tesco is failing in its duty to the owners? No.

If the property means so much to you instruct a solicitor and resubmit your offer (minus solicitor costs).

Suggest you seek clarification of this point directly from the banks solicitors.

Cannot understand why you do not just offer £500 quid less and appoint a solicitor.
