I never buzz people in and expect them to find my flat! I buzz them in, then walk down and meet them in the foyer...

Why on earth should people be expected to have to go down to collect food, parcels or anything else? If there is no intercom then they would come to the door of your flat so what difference is there?

Personally I would go down to collect myself. It's only personal preference but I think it's politer to meet the delivery driver in the foyer. Of course that would depend on your personal circumstances eg who else is in the flat with you.

Why on earth would someone quote selectively and not the reasons why?

Anyway your point fails, if there was no intercom why should the driver be expected to traipse upto you whe he has made you aware he is there?

I fully quoted the posts I was responding to so don't understand your point here. If there was no intercom then the driver would have no way of making you aware he was there so would come up to you surely.

How have I tainted the thread? and as you do not know me then labelling me as a self-righteous know it all surely makes you a self righteous know it all?

I go down to meet the delivery driver out of courtesy and also to make sure I definitely get my food.

Your comments about a baby or broken leg do not appear in the OP's post so your point here is frankly pointless. However one thing is mentioned and that is that the intercom speaker is not working. So with this in mind surely it is best to go and meet the delivery driver. If the intercom was working then it would have been CONVENIENT to ask him to pop up to said floor and drop it off.

Please read my post properly before dismissing it as 'pointless'. I said WHAT IF the poster had these problems. Wow, at least I'm making informed judgements about people's posts instead of making something up.

I made a further post explaining my reasons why I would go down.

By the way the buzzer works if you read the OP so he did make them aware he was there

Those are your reasons though and we don't all have to share them.

Yes in this case the buzzer works but I said 'if there is no intercom' meaning those flats without them. In that instance the delivery person would have to go up to the flat so why not in every case. If someone wants to go downstairs that's up to them but it seems unusual to me. If it were me and I had an intercom I would buzz the in and expect them to come up, its common courtesy to deliver to the actual door. :o

No, unless I made up the reply YOU posted which just added substance to my argument. Which didn't happen. Quit being so defensive, it's a sign of guilt.
