Bank holiday Monday - weather looks ok at the moment...amazingly!!
Today we're going to attempt the dreaded school shoe shopping :eek:I hate this time of year but it has to be done....am going today so the DH can 'experience' this annual ritual:rotfl: - don't see why I should have to suffer alone!! Have over budgeted (I hope) for the shoes, but I also need to get a new lunch bag for DS2. I may also let him have a new school bag, if there's enough leftover, as he's currently got one of DS1's old hand me downs .....the story of his life;)
DH is also going to carry on with some painting - we 've been decorating our hall & stairs for the last 6 months & really just need to get it finished!! Be nice if it was done by Christmas:rotfl:
Am in the mood for clearing out & organising....maybe it's the time of year, but threw 2 black bags off rubbish out of kitchen cupboards & pantry yesterday...think I'm going to start on my bedroom soon - it looks tidy but the wardrobes are stuffed full with things that we probably don't need/use.
Still haven't put petrol in yet...DH will do it this morning on his way back from the tip! He doesn't know he's doing this yet though:rotfl:
Will check in later with my spends....really must get up & moving!!!20p Saver Club #33 60p/£100

School supplies sorted....spent £142.95 (£2.95 over my budget....but this was for shoe polish!!). DS2 hasn't got a school bag as it turned out DS1 needed trousers :mad:But I'm going to see if we can find something for him at a reasonable price....
Also paid my mum back another £50, so only £100 left to pay:j

Dilemma time.......think I know what you're all going to say..but need to get it straight in my head!
Have the offer of a car....for a really good price, with an interest free loan (family member).....DH's car is ok but needs new cam belt, is approaching 100000 miles and has other things wrong with it - which currently we don't have to get fixed...but if we did...would be costly!!
What do we do?

Ok so no one's actually said anything:o -
Still can't decide what to do....the car is a bargain & is immaculate! Just wish I could know that DH's car will be ok for a while....but there's just no way of knowing!
Have ordered my shopping online, to be delivered tomorrow, as it would have been more expensive to take the children with me!!! have forgotten a few bits:mad: so will get them locally tomorrow.
Need to get some sleep - another day with the kids beckons......20p Saver Club #33 60p/£100

For me it would be two things ,
1.how much the loan was for,
2. Can you really afford to without it affecting your Income for debt repayment.
We had a car , it was 15 years old after having it constantly cutting out on us we decided to get a car with an 06 plate, but for us it was having a reliable car with work and the kids. At the time my husband didnt have any debts so that's why we went down that route x0 -
Could you get any money for DH's car? How would you pay for this one - would the PPI claim cover it? Have just got a car after not having one for over 2 years (getting pregnant with #4 was the final straw, lol) and it's amazing, so am very pro-car at the moment!Go to the ant, thou sluggard0

Well, after sleeping on it and going over the figures...I think I'm going to do something I've never done before - and not buy the car!! I would love it - but DH's car is a good runner and we'd planned to get the cam belt done with the PPI money anyway. It would just add more debt, and although it wouldn't accrue any interest, I really want to clear what we owe - to enable us to save to do much needed house improvements and stuff. We weren't considering changing DH's car (as we both love it!) so it was more a case of "want" rather than "need."
Really hope that we don't regret the decision, but that's a chance we're going to have to take. DH is in agreement so just need to let my parents know that we won't be having it. Sad, as it was a bargain - but it's only a bargain if you need it & can afford it!!20p Saver Club #33 60p/£100

Feeling relieved about the decision we've made.....on with the debt busting!!:j:j
Groceries delivered today....still need to get a few bits that weren't availiable (and some that I'd forgotten to order) but today's spend was £81.28. My cupboards were bare though, following my return from holiday last week......seems a long time ago now
Have checked online banking and everything is in order so far...realise that keeping an eye on this is going to be the key.
The weather is truly awful here today.....I have my 3 children and my niece today, so am hoping they'll keep each other amused and I can get on with some clearing out & tidying!
