Remember a young child can't put themselves in another's shoes and empathise with them, so they have no idea that they are being rude, hurtful etc. I believe they are about 7 when it dawns on them that the world doesn't revolve soley around themselves!
They can be embarrassing, but other peoiple are generally aware that young children can be like this and accept it. It's older children who should have been taught to know better who really grate. Encourage her development and use of language and enjoy seeing the world through a child's eyes, it can be fascinating, cringeful and hilarious!

As an aside, if she likes Dora the Explorer there is a book in that series on good manners. My son loves it and it helps him to remember to say please and thank you - I picked it up in Sainbury's for about £3.

    This is so weird!

I found this thread today and thought to myself "we have that book"

Well as I was replying to this thread about my own three year old she was in bed for an afternoon nap and when I went to wake her I found this

 Her explanation "It's rubbish! It's too high up and I don't like it!"

    But.... :rotfl:

I did have a stern word with her about how we treat books and I believe she got the message.

    kids!
Just run, run and keep on running!

Awe isn't it strange that when its someone elses child you see it as more normal I mean that made me laugh although I know it shouldn't sorry. I'm finding the ignoring the negative is really helping but you can't ignore it when they do that can you, you did right to have a stern word with her bless.
