ESA Appeal 'Lost' in Post

Hi there
I have recently appealed my ESA award. I sent it First Class Registered. However, 7 working days after posting, the PO tracking information still states as being 'progressed through our network for delivery'. I just wondered whether anyone has had similar problems. I am thinking of re-sending, although my month deadline has now expired.

    This is not uncommon.
Tracking often does not work well for items delivered in bulk.
I've found special delivery to be more reliable trackingwise.
    But.

If you posted it, especially as you have proof, you are treated as it being recieved 'in the usual course of post'.

Phone them up, see if they've got it. However, after only 6 days at best after reciept, it's unlikely it will have gotten through the DWP systems, and be visible on your file.
Resending, if it's easy is not a bad plan, along with a note, explaining why, and giving the reference number of the first letter.

this means that when the postie delivered your letter there was nobody available to sign for it,probably a Saturday so the postie will have posted a note saying he/she has taken it back to the post office ready for someone to come and collect it but nobody will. How do you think the DWP can reject so many appeals?
Legally they never received the appeal form and the law is on their side.......................................

no it doesn't, if that were the case it would say an attempt was made to deliver and is now waiting to be collected from their local delivery office.

Had 3 lots of ESA paperwork go missing in June/July.

Jobcentre agreed to allow us to take the documents in, and an advisor faxed them over to the relevant department (appointment was needed).

Have also taken in letters/forms to Jobcentre, ask them to post using internal mail. They gave us a proof of sending form, and letters are tracked through their system.

We did this last year too, seems to be the only way to be sure paperwork gets through when it is important.

Sorry for delay in responding - it's been a hospital day.
Appreciate the replies, many thanks. I'll do as you all suggest and chase this up tomorrow. However, phone calls with DWP can be long and unproductive. Generally I seem to know more about the process than the 'advisors'.
Thanks again all for the great replies!!

    I said

"when the postie delivered your letter there was nobody available to sign for it,probably a Saturday so the postie will have posted a note saying he/she has taken it back to the post office ready for someone to come and collect it"

    You said

"if that were the case it would say an attempt was made to deliver and is now waiting to be collected from their local delivery office"

Now please tell me again if there is a difference or are you just argueing for the sake of it?

Because I work in the Post Office and whenever we get a recorded delivery for a Jobcentre,we always ask for the senders postcode and house number,9 times out of 10 we have to return to sender because they dont get picked up.
I know what I'm talking about.
