You are correct in everything you have said on this thread. I imagine gooligan's employer would not be too happy if they saw all the misinformation he has given!

    Thank you kind Sir/Madam

Recorded Delivery only offers a signature, before that the location is neither stated nor known to RM i.e. it is not trackable. The tracking refers to Special Delivery, whereby it can be tracked at each stage.

isn't that what he said ;)
  • I'm new on here, and have no axe to grind.

But it occurs to me that if you send an item by recorded delivery to a large goverment department, then you actually reduce the chances of it being delivered!

Most goverment departments are already unable to deal with their post in a reasonable time, and have little incentive to send someone round to the local sorting office to see if there is anything they might have missed.

I can't speak for all govt offices, but with many the post will automatically be redelivered on the next working day.

You may be right, if the business gets a lot of mail then a recorded can be missed as it is not kept apart from the rest of the mail, it is up to the postie to first spot a recorded is in with the rest of the mail, then to remember to ask them to sign for it.

A card is not normally left for a business, the recorded will be left to be delivered the next available day.

But, as I understand the earlier posts, if there is no-one to sign, then Recorded Delivery items will not be delivered.

I don't really understand how anything can be 'automatically re-delivered' - if it fails at the first attempt, then why would a second attempt be any more successful? What happens if the second attempt also fails?

Mate please don't feel picked on as i wouldn't want to make someone feel like that

But be fair, you don't work for the Post office as you would know a Recorded is not tracked at all, so play fair.
