I don't really understand how anything can be 'automatically re-delivered' - if it fails at the first attempt, then why would a second attempt be any more successful? What happens if the second attempt also fails?
The second attempt will not fail, because it will be a working day. There are lots of people at BDC's, there will definitely be somebody there to meet the postman at least five days a week!0 -

A postie will know when a business is available to accept a delivery, if closed on a Saturday etc then the Reorded will be delivered on Monday.
Many business also have a paid for service to hold all mail on Saturdays and Schools will have one in place for the school holidays too, so no mail will be delivered to a closed building.0 -
So you are saying we collect it,sort it,transport it and the we deliver it but at no time in between collecting it and delivering it do we know where it is?
I know exactly what I'm talking about,if you two want to tag team me then fine,be my guest.
Here you go, from the RM website, on the Recorded Signed For page:Do you track items between posting and delivery?
No. The tracking takes place following delivery to confirm the item has been delivered

I would call Royal Mail, find out if it's delivered.
I had same problem, the tracking info online was never updated, but kind lady on the phone from royal mail then sent me proof of delivery via email.0 -
I have heard that items for the DWP are actually opened in special rooms by royal mail staff and then sorted and sent on, hence the time scale. It is then up to the staff at the offices to update as to whether something is delivered. We had something similar recently, rang DWP and it took a few more days to register as being received and delivered. (don't think I'll bother paying more again, not worth it).
Good luck with the appeal!

Taking a standard letter to your post office and asking for a receipt is probably the best thing to do. No signature required, it just gets delivered like all other mail. Then you do have proof that it was sent and that costs you nothing more than the price of a stamp!
In my experience, special delivery was a total waste of time when sending important documents to DWP or Atos sites. I sent an ESA50 special delivery and although the RM website confirmed that it had been delivered, there never was a signature as proof. At least I got a refund so the special delivery didn't cost me anything. lol0 -

C'mon people, get real.Have you any idea what the ombudsman would do if that were true?
Fact..any correspondence to JobcentrePlus,Disability Living Allowance and ATOS that is sent recorded delivery is hardly ever signed for, that is why we ask for the senders house number and postcode.0 -
Because I work in the Post Office and whenever we get a recorded delivery for a Jobcentre,we always ask for the senders postcode and house number,9 times out of 10 we have to return to sender because they dont get picked up.
I know what I'm talking about.
sent 8 things in last 2 month to jobcentre recorded and not once has the post office asked me for postcode and house number, and thats from a main post office.0 -

I must admit, sending stuff recorded to the jobcentre always takes longer to get there than post to anywhere else.0 -
