exactly , it's the attitude that needs a neg as much as the postage issue. Rude doesn't even come close! she's still going on now but i've stopped responding.0 -

Her attitude is disgusting though. Neutral is probably appropriate something along the lines of "pleased with the item but postage rates are astronomical and seller doesn't respond well to communication" and then give her lowest score on the relevant stars - postage and communication.
maybe, until you get to the reply from the seller
neg worthy by itself0 -
I tend not to give negs at all, but with emails like that from the seller I would be seriously considering something less than a positive here.
Actually though. poor stars are much more dangerous to a seller than feedback- although feedback does serve to warn other buyers from using the seller.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. What an arrogant response from the seller - I would leave negative feedback based on that and mark the postage stars down severely - its dishonest/ disingenuous to charge £10 for a service you have no intention of using, then use a cheap, slow service instead, costing less than half, and aggressively justifying it and threatening you - deserves negatives all round, I am afraid - buyers should be protected from nasty, miserable sellers like that. No issue with charging £10 for postage, but then use the service you said you would, and make a token refund if the actual charges work out so much cheaper than you expected.......that's what I would expect from a seller.........0

Isn't that a bit like saying that it's unfair to complain if you buy a 1st class rail ticket to get you from A to B and the train service is shown as non stop, but when you get on board you find that all the carriages are 2nd class and the train stops at every station.
In both cases the end result would be the same with the item/person getting to their destination later then expected and by a different class of transport then was paid for.
If I purchased a gold coin and paid £8 for Special delivery, I would be very upset it it dropped through my letterbox 4 or 5 days later as the seller had sent it 2nd class postage.
Yes, I would have known the postage would be £8, but that would be £8 for a specified service.0 -
FWIW - I don't think you can complain about the postage charge as you knew what it was when you bought. What you can complain about though is that you didn't get the advertised service for that charge. You are also within your rights to feel agrieved if the item came AFTER the 'estimated delivery date' (this is based on the service used and as they used a slower service then the chances are the item arrived 'late'). Was it posted within the timeframe stated by the seller that would be another reason to feel agrieved.
Having said all that, their response to your 'complaint' was disgusting and I cetainly wouldn't be leaving a positive now!!0 -
I usually defend excessive postage charges as you know the price before committing yourself to the purchase.
However in this case, I'd assume you paid that postage fully expecting receipt of your goods within 4/5 days max, as advertised? You received them 10 days later. So what you paid for you did not receive. Strike one, I'd mark their P&P charges and despatch time stars down to 3 as they couldn't be described above satisfactory.
You then get a snotty message from the seller which should really have been apologetic due to their late despatch. Strike two (neutral feedback worthy IMO and a three star for communication).
Finally you get a follow up message with personal remarks and insults. Strike three, negative feedback guaranteed, one star for P&P charges, despatch time and communication.
There are many polite sellers out there. People who think it's OK to wait a week to post and verbally abuse their buyers should be highlighted, that's what the feedback system is for.0 -

Saying the OP knew the postage cost is a daft argument for two reasons, One, the OP is not there to weight it or wrap it or know the cost of wrapping, only after the OP receives the parcel can they know if said postage charge seems correct.
Two, the stated postage was £10, the true postage was £3 plus packaging, to claim £7 for packaging is unreasonable for what the OP said the packaging was, so again the OP could not know this until they received the parcel. Thats like saying my plane ticket will be £7000 and claiming that, to later find out it was £300 as the £7000 was for 1st class but they paid for economy.
I would neg this seller as not only has she ripped off the OP on postage she has went against ebay's own rules by claiming more postage than it cost to send.0
