Isn't lovely to read of acts of kindness, yours for giving Pickle a home Mystra and your pet sitting lady for being so generous and helping you get sorted. :A

Pickle will soon train you to let her into the bedroom, and the bed :rotfl:

Isn't it strange about all the cats with wobbly legs? Mine doesn't seem to have any discomfort with it, she runs, jumps and plays as normal and the vet can never find anything wrong. She does like having a massage and when her leg is like that and a little gentle work on her hip does seem to help.

Oh, and if she is one of those pusses who poohs right at the edge of the litter tray, the covered litter boxes are worth every penny.

so true!!! we got one on Saturday - paid far too much to get it from Petsathome on the day but we were going a bit insane with the amount of poo going up the walls!! Normally i get everything online, but something just can't wait haha. She didn't like it at first so we had to take the top off but now she's fine with it (although we still haven't put the little door flap back on - but i'm not really bothered!)

She's so talkative - i've never heard such a chirrupy cat...especially at dinner time!

Once the vet gives her the all clear I'll see if she enjoys a nice leg massage :)

I have an East London cat with wobbly legs.

Is there something going on genetically in the area?

It could be hip dysplasia. It is a genetic condition and vets didn't think cats suffered from it, but have now discovered that they do, especially pedigrees.

My girl hasn't been so bad that it has had to be heavily investigated, it just happens sometimes then goes away again.

George had wobbly back legs before he was 1 yo, took him to vets, he got diagnosed with luxating patella, had both legs operated on (with 6 weeks break), cost about 5k all together (covered by insurance).

I look at Macius now, again wobbly legs but... will wait and see. Wish I never put George through surgery as often this "fixes itself".

    Sigh...

:eek:Poor George, i guess it included lots of rehab and stress for him with restricted movement etc whilst healing.... i hope Pickle doesn't have the same but we'll deal with it however we can - if she's in no pain then maybe she'll be ok to carry on without surgery... if not then not sure insurance will cover it seeing as we don't have it yet and plus she's already wobbling when we took her in so i doubt insurance would cover. Still i would never deny her what she needs, no matter the cost - the things we do for our pets :)

It sure is a lovely thread, made me shed a little tear! So glad you're looking to keep her Mystra! She looks a real sweetie and it sounds like you and your OH have totally fallen in love with her :)

Wish there was more people like you with such a kind heart.
  • I'm so glad you've taken her on!

Three of our current cats were found 'lost, hungry and crying' and we tried desperately to find their owner(s) - I couldn't believe such friendly, loving cats could be simply abandoned. It upsets me so much that people really can dump a cat or dog like a piece of rubbish and turn and walk away. But they do, oh but they do. A very nice friend and neighbour discovered a tiny kitten crying in a large council flower bed outside his dental practice. He took her in and ended up keeping her - how she ended up in the middle of a busy town centre we'll never know. But someone out there knows.
  • Glad that everything with Pickle is going well. What a apt name-but in a pickle no more, fortuanately! She really has 'fallen on her feet' in finding you.
And what a kind and generous person the pet sitter is.
    Have a lovely holiday.

I would simply castrate...and whatever the female equivalent of it is

But then hey - I am a simple person ;)

I agree. Anyone who treats animals like that needs contraception applied with a rusty stanley knife.

You have SNAKES??? How wonderful! What does Pickle make of them?

We discovered from his microchip that our big boy was originally called Fluffy, which we thought was hopelessly un-original because he's...fluffy! We renamed him Dan, after Desperate Dan, because desperate is exactly what he was when we found him (or, to be more accurate, he found us!)
