You miss the point. The private sector pays for the public sector.

I don't think there are many bankers in N.I.

Don't envy your friend, try and get a better paying job in the private sector if you want more money.

You get the service you pay for usually. If you want poor service pay little. For good pay more. Unfortunately with our public sector, we pay a lot and get very little back.

We have hundereds of thousands on DLA here. I think one in ten. And many on ESA. Plenty of money to be saved there.

I think you need to look at the sick and elderly, who can't even heat their homes or eat. You know there is no point in arguing about this. I just think you get the point about sick and elderly people don't get enough money. And see how the country runs whenever the private sector takes over. Discussion ends. I have enough problems off my own to deal with.

Oh I'm happy to pay for the genuinely sick and the poor elderly, I like many tax payers aren't prepared for the massive public sector. Or to pay for them to be at home scratching. Discussion ends.

What? Total public sector employment is approx. 240,000. Two hundred and forty thousand.

Just to add, that our regional DVA offices are closing down and going over to England, so you are paying for civil servants who are not even here.... Take it up with your MP.
I know I used to think exactly the same as you, as I have worked in the private sector, and had a better environment to work in, no nonsense taken, and no silly meetings, and you were responsible for your own work. NICS everyone blames the person below, and then they have a meeting and then it goes on and on, so I would rather work in the private sector, but unfortunately, there are no jobs. Agree to agree on that one.....

pepper33 Management have made a pay offer for 2012 and 2013 (August in both cases), which will include the £250 for low paid that you refer to. But wonderful NIPSA have not accepted the pay offer, so in answer to your question - no, you will not get a pay rise this month.

Perhaps because NIPSA cannot accept yet?

The offer goes to the members for a vote so when the postal ballot of members is completed, we will know if it is accepted. No decisions are made without members agreement.
