So you don't agree with nurses getting £250, I dont mind, and I am on benefits, and fire/ambulance workers get a pittance, compared to what they do. Do you want everyone on low wages, that is what the govt wants.

Why is it when anyone talks about the public sector waste of money someone always talks about nurses and fire fighters?

FYI the starting salary of a nurse is £21,176. For a fully qualified fire fighter it is £28,199 or £21,157 for a trainee.

No I don't want everyone on low wages. Just for the private sector who pay for them to be on higher wages. If that means freezing the ones above, then so be it.

The public service also pay taxes, and I wish I got paid as much as some of the private sector, and whilst in the private sector, we were advised to take out pensions of our own. I don't see how anyone that is in the public service can be blamed, they run the country, and keep everything going. The goverment award themselves big rises, and the bankers enjoy enormous bonuses, so why so angry with the public services? I take it you work for a private company.

pepper33 Management have made a pay offer for 2012 and 2013 (August in both cases), which will include the £250 for low paid that you refer to. But wonderful NIPSA have not accepted the pay offer, so in answer to your question - no, you will not get a pay rise this month.

Ah well, I was hoping. NICS is in a bad way, no staff, low morale, and management still manage to keep their big salaries...

    No staff = 240,000

Everyone must be out on time in lieu or on the sick in that case.

Why saverbuyer, are you so vicious about civil servants, they have a lot to deal with, especially in the social security offices, there is a lot of wastage I agree, but I have only been in it a short time, and it seems to me we are top heavy with management. I am sorry that I have upset you, but you try doing my job for a day, and being bullied and having to obey stupid made up rules, and all the crap I have to put up with.....

Well then Pepper in that case I suggest you do what we in the private sector have to do... Leave.

You haven't upset me. If the private sector was ran like the public sector it would go under. I pay for the private sector. I have a right as does every private sector employee to ask what value we get from out taxes. We have a right to demand value for money.

I can't leave, I need the money, because my private sector job would only give me a contract. Yes I would like to know what the bankers and mp's etc do with my money, unfortunately, they have put our rates up, because they want to build that Titanic Building. But I don't give off about it. And I never envied my friend who is getting twice as much as me in the private sector. You have to take the job wherever it is? Although with all the sick people being thrown on the jobseekers looking for jobs, and govt paying out to private companies for doing the dirty work, of pushing really sick people out into the world looking for jobs. The private sector is doiing really well out of the public sector, privatising everything, and getting a substandard service.... Watch ATOS have just got another multi million pound contract....
