I recently sold a game to someone living in Malta. I send the game to Malta by airmail and I have proof of postage. They are now saying that the game never arrived.

Has anyone had the same problem?

What is the best way to deal with them.

Was this sold on Play? If so I'm not sure how they deal with their losses and whether they stand the loss if you cna prove you sent something. if you wait a while another Play seller should be along later who can tell you the rules.

If they are like Amazon then they do occasionally take the loss themselves if item was sent fully tracked, however they expect buyers to cover losses where item was sent untracked. This also applies to ebay sales where sellers are entirely responsible for items reaching the buyer.

I've always covered any losses on play, if you have proof of posting you can submit it to Royal Mail for compensation. Although RM say they don't pay out for lost mail abroad (or that it is at their discretion), they have always paid me for any claims submitted.

  • I have just done a repricing run on Playtrade and I am astonished at the amount of books on there for 99p!! (That includes postage of course  )

I am now considering whether it is really worth me carrying on with my 100 listings or whether to knock it on the head.

There is no way I can complete with those prices, so I have decided to carry on pricing to give me a similar return to that on Amazon.

Still I shall wait and see if my repricing generates any sales and will reconsider after Christmas if I haven't made any sales.

Sell your books on Green Metropolis instead - they rarely sell on Play for a decent price unless there is no competition
Not been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/155
  • Thanks JessRose,

Already got all my relevant books on Greenmetropolis too :D

Must admit though that I haven't had a bite from there since I switch my holiday settings off 3 weeks ago

I haven't sold many books on GM either (about 6) but I only ever sold 1 book on Play. With DVDs and CDs however Play is fantastic and I usually sell about 5 a week just from my old cast-offs

  • I have got to go through our DVD's and downsize our collection soon.

Will definitely be popping them on Play :T

Hi gang... never really looked at Playtrade before but a potential Christmas present is showing up as cheap there... surprisingly cheap (natch!)

What buyer protection is in place? I don't want to get lumbered with a fake and the seller has just 2 feedbacks to recommend him.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
