I was rejected too, and I've been both a manager and assistant manager in the past, I applied for one of the floor jobs, I look at it as their loss and have been offered a much better job in the meantime... look at it as fate and maybe something much better is just around the corner...!
Perhaps because you were 'over' qualified or had too much experience?MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -

Yes but what i'm getting at is that due to the rise in unemployment your chances of being successful in your job hunt is reduced further no matter how many jobs you apply to. You've not only got to compete against people who are already in work but looking for something new, you've also got the people who aren't in work.0 -

This was raised earlier. I know some people have been rejected for being 'over qualified' but in this case the argument is that the computer system rejects you based on answers to a personality test thus preventing a real person from seeing your qualifications and judging if that's the case.0 -
If it were me I'd have told them 'yeah sure i'll do that' then when i started the job i'd have to let them know that other things have come up. They can't fire you for having a life outside of work

I wish I had thought of that, because obviously honesty doesn't pay! (if you excuse the pun)
I was just annoyed that the job I applied for (permanent contract, part time hours) in reality didn't exist - I was told they have no permanent contracts available. I did tell her I was happy to do weekend work, but obviously this was not good enough.0 -
Just to say that yesterday evening the guy I spoke to on customer services phoned me back with a contact number where I could speak to someone regarding my application. I phoned them today and spoke to a guy who i think was the store manager.
Anyway it's another local store who is handling the applications and when i spoke to him he couldn't have cared less. He sounded a few sheets to the wind to be honest but he was absolutely unwilling to try to help me. He just kept saying there was nothing he could do and that was how it was across all store applications. I said i was aware of this but surely considering my experience and willingness to do the job he could at least consider my application? No. He had no intention of trying to help me and he sounded like I was a nuisance for calling him.
I thought of writing a letter to head office complaining but to be honest they can stuff it now. I might consider writing to the local paper though and seeing if they would be willing to highlight the issue...0 -
Nothing you can do with ASDAs selection process.
Just think that there better places out there that you deserve to work for.
I am with 15 years of managerial and admin experience for large companies worked from Admin, HR to IT- I am still jobless and everytime I see a rejection email I can only say arrghhhhhhhh !0
