A couple years ago I found out a new Mr T was opening near me and had a similar thing to go through.
there was also a psychometric test thing to fill out and as the centre where they were doing 'interviews' was really busy they asked me to go home fill it in and hand it back.
Off I goes home fills it in and give it to OH to hand in on his way past, the next day.
2 days later I get the dreaded letter saying you failed the test/you are not what we are looking for at the moment/you cant have a job with us you twit.
When I showed OH the letter, he went oh sorry I forgot to hand that in:eek:
so who's test did they match up with me?
Well that cheered me up a little and made me chuckle
But seriously, that's ridiculous (them not the OH lol) 0 -
My brother had the same thing with Tesco failed 3 times similer sort of priority thing. In the end a neighbour had a word with the HR team in store. They gave him a trial and he worked there for 4 years in the endFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0

I completely understand where you are coming from. I did a psychology degree and know how useless these tests are so to not get through for not 'passing' the test is really heartbreaking. I look forward to working for a company who employs people based on their merits rather than what a computer says is compatible!0

That's what i just plain don't understand. I imagine i have failed this test but the fact that they're relying on a computer to tell them whether I'm good enough or not is beyond ridiculous. I know they probably use it to trim down the applicants but to say it's unfair would be a major understatement.
I was good at my job when I worked at Morrison's, I was friendly and punctual, hardly had any time off and on several occasions was thanked by customers on those feedback cards. ASDA want this as they clearly state but they don't get to find out because of a sodding computer system!0 -
The other issue with Psychometric tests, is they can discriminate against people with certain disabilities, such as Asperger's Syndrome. The only possible argument that it does not discriminate, is that the test accurately identifies only people suitable for the job, and those who fail the test could not do the job as well as those who pass - which we know is not the case. They should be illegal IMO, under existing legislation such as the Equality Act.Wanted a job, now have one. :beer:0

When i saw the advert on the jobcentre site it did mention that they have claimed an exemption under the Equality Act 2010. I don't know if that's what that is or not...0 -
Very annoying I agree that companies like ASDA are using a computer says no test to select applicants and don't give a s**t about previous experience working in that sort of working environment. A few years ago they would have had to literally kidnap you off the street to come and work for them.
Just a thought but could you reapply again, using a different email address?0 -
The only thing I can think it means is in relation to people with physical disabilities. For example a wheelchair user might be unable to stack shelves well, and a reasonable adjustment (as required under the Equality Act) would not be possible, as you'd effectively just have someone else doing the job. Thing is, people with those sort of limitations wouldn't apply for that sort of work anyway. When i saw the advert on the jobcentre site it did mention that they have claimed an exemption under the Equality Act 2010. I had the same problem OP, was so desperate for a job i created 2 or 3 new accounts, i still think I chose the correct answers but it wasn't meant to be. Its a pity the experience part of the application isn't checked over by a living being.0
