I am at odds as to why the OP needs help with an unreasonable seller?0

Put yourself in her shoes. She buys an item that is used, but was listed as new, then contacts the seller and gets the message that they are at a wake and can't sort it out immediately. What would you think at this point? OP does seem a little prone to over dramatising herself.
So if she had purchased this as a gift and now not only has the hassle of having to return the item, but also has to find an alternative etc, it would be very frustrating.
The courier thing is ridiculous and no way should OP be expected to pay for that, but I think the OP should have been more understanding with her 'customer' as it was her fault.
It is a fairly simple solution, but I think that the bias in this thread has gone too far both ways.
I dont understand how the OP wasnt understanding, as soon as she found out she was at fault, she asked for the item to be sent back so she can refund her. What else was the OP meant to do? send a box of chocolates and a sorry card?
Why would the OP need to dramatize the situation, to a bunch of strangers? I really dont understand that, ive been an Ebay seller before and cases like the OP are nothing compared to the stuff ive been through. The fact that your idea the buyer is getting so frustrated because the gift that she had bought from ebay isnt what she wanted seems ridiculous to me. At the end of the day that still doesnt mean she hound the poor girl to a point where the buyer is verbally abusing the girl in comments.
If you were in the Buyers shoes what would you have preferred to have heard? IM BUSY, WILL SORT IT LATER, or have had your email ignored? The fact that they OP replied straight away (regardless of where she was replying from) shows a responsible seller. Any other sound minded person in the shoes of the Buyer wouldnt have made such a big deal over a perfume wrongly described, no matter what the circumstances. It was a £35 bottle of perfume! not a priceless diamond ring! Thats no excuse to be rude to a person for making a mistake.
She wanted a refund including her return postage provided she had sent it, but she instead wanted to be greedy and get away with more money, i can guarentee you there is no courier service. No one will spend that much without the guarentee they will get it back."Shes a witch!""How do you know?""Cos she looks like one!!"

This is how you respond to a buyer when a seller makes a mistakeHi *******,
Thanks for your honesty we would appreciate it if you could send them back and we will refund your postage for them. I've attached a returns form all you need to do is fill that in and return it with the goods.
Best Regards

they sent too many of the items i ordered
postage covered for my return
Buyers shouldnt be out of pocket for returns from a sellers mistake, regardless of what eBay say0 -

She didn't though did she? She first gave excuses that she was at a wake and couldn't deal with it. Judging by her post here she was clearly unhappy that the buyer didn;t really care about that and thought it was an excuse. Why would the OP need to dramatize the situation, to a bunch of strangers? I really dont understand that,
Nor do I. If Op has such a bee in her bonnet about this person being unreasonable because she was at a wake, then why was she trying to deal with this from said wake? It doesn't really make sense.ive been an Ebay seller before and cases like the OP are nothing compared to the stuff ive been through. The fact that your idea the buyer is getting so frustrated because the gift that she had bought from ebay isnt what she wanted seems ridiculous to me.
So because you haven;t experienced it, means it is not a possibility? My thoughts there are conjecture, just like yours so the point is mute unless we know the facts.Any other sound minded person in the shoes of the Buyer wouldnt have made such a big deal over a perfume wrongly described, no matter what the circumstances. It was a £35 bottle of perfume! not a priceless diamond ring! Thats no excuse to be rude to a person for making a mistake.
It's all relative to the person. A £35 bottle of perfume may be very important to someone, once again we don't know.but she instead wanted to be greedy and get away with more money, i can guarentee you there is no courier service.
Oh really? You like to imply lots of scenarios you have absolutely no factual knowledge of.
I was trying to play devils advocate. We only have one side of the story here, we must remember that. Do we have any idea how the OP responded to the buyer? We don't. Maybe she had a tone or said something that angered the buyer, who knows.A smile costs nothing, but gives a lot.It enriches those who receive it without making poorer those who give it.A smile takes only a moment, but the memory of it can last forever.0 -

the OP did say she would cover the costs that it would take for it to be sent to her, which is persnally what i wouldnt have done, but the buyer is trying to make our she sent it via courier to claim 35 pounds in postage cost. the buyer could have chosen royal mail which would have cost five pounds.
and she did reply back saying sorry please send it back to me for a refund. i doubt it was as fancy as hw u said it, but i dont think it was rude at all"Shes a witch!""How do you know?""Cos she looks like one!!"

well i dont understand what the OP could have done other than apologise and ask for the item to be sent back to her. which she did do.
and from what i read of the original post, she didnt say she was at the wake so couldnt do the refund, she said she apologises if her replies arent fast enough because she was at a wake, she cant refund the money until the item got to her, so i dnt understand what you mean by she made an excuse, whether or not she was at a wake, the buyer was !!!!ed off because The OP wasnt replying back fast enough. not everyone is glued to there email accounts nor have access to the internet 24 7.
i would be !!!!ed off to if i was the OP, even if i wasnt at a wake. for god sakes give her a chance to reply to an email before you make accusations. not bombard her with emails saying her lack of replies is her being a horrible seller.
and dont you think its highly suspicious that the buyer sent a package via courier 5 days ago for a ridiculos amount of money and it hasnt arrived yet??"Shes a witch!""How do you know?""Cos she looks like one!!"

I don't think I ever said that. Please stop putting things in which are not there.she cant refund the money until the item got to her, so i dnt understand what you mean by she made an excuse, whether or not she was at a wake, the buyer was !!!!ed off because The OP wasnt replying back fast enough.
So why mention it at all? If it was not any type of excuse why would you even say it? It clearly was, otherwise the OP wouldn't also have told us so in her opening post. Would she have mentioned it if the wake had been the week before? Do you see the point?
Unless Op posts all correspondance (obviously without names/email addresses etc) we are only going to see one side of the story.
Just from reading the outlines and the tone of the OP i think there may be a little more to the feud between buyer and seller than is being told here, but that is just my opinion.A smile costs nothing, but gives a lot.It enriches those who receive it without making poorer those who give it.A smile takes only a moment, but the memory of it can last forever.0 -

.
but u implied she was making excuses by saying she was at a wake. and she never said i was at a wake, she was jus saying how the buyer is being impatient. if she hadnt had said she was at a wake im sure you all would have said YOU SHOULD HAVE REPLIED BACK TO HER IMMEDIATLY, SHES A CUSTOMER AND ITS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AS A SELLER, and i think she was trying to emphasise how rude the buyer was, as her reputation as a good ebay seller is being ruined because some woman cant accept that shes not getting the attention she thinks she deserves.
some people are very harsh to the OP saying shes not understanding of the situation the buyer feels cheated, but no one sympathises with the OP who has admitted to making the mistake and is trying to rectify it but cant because the supposed buyer is trying to cheat her out of an outrageous amount of money for posting a poxy perfume bottle back, not to forget a member of her family passed away, i dont care if you some of you think the OP may be lying to gain sympathy, from who though? anonymous forum members? there are plenty of forums that provide support and sympathy. she came here for help on a transaction and instead got attacked for not supposedly respecting the buyer, but nobody thinks the buyer is being harsh with opening the case despite the OP saying she will refund when she recieves the item."Shes a witch!""How do you know?""Cos she looks like one!!"

I can see you struggle with reading comprehension and continue to state things I haven't said nor implied or have been factually stated in this thread.
We will go around in circles forever.
Good luck getting this sorted OP.A smile costs nothing, but gives a lot.It enriches those who receive it without making poorer those who give it.A smile takes only a moment, but the memory of it can last forever.0 -

Thanks so much for your support on this matter, from what ive read on the replies, ive seem to be stuck on the negative end of the stick with everyone saying, its your problem deal with it. i know i made a mistake, and i admitted that from the beginning with the buyer, i first did email saying it was in the description and then five minutes later after i had checked, i sent her an email straight back saying im sorry, im at fault, please send it back. what else was i meant to do?
The packaged STILL has not arrived, ive asked her again, has she sent the package because ive not received it. Her reply was something along the lines that ive got the perfume but claiming i havent got it. i said if you will check with the courier service you used it will tell you if it has or hasnt been delivered. but she hasnt said anything about that either. so i agree with you that she hasnt sent it, even im thinking its too late.
I dont understand everyones problem with me saying i was at the wake, it wasnt an excuse, i shouldnt have said anything.
Thanks once again for your support x0
