TESCO complaint

  • £10 is pretty standard - that's what I got when I chipped my tooth on a stone in an asda sandwich. yeah it sucks that there was a foreign object that shouldnt be there but it's done now so there's nothing I can do so I used the voucher and carried on. They also said they would contact me after it had been investigated but it was last year so I very much doubt they took any action whatsoever.

    Yes, stingy indeed!
I think I'd want them to pay for the dental treatment if that happened. It's entirely reasonable to expect any out of pocket expenses to be refunded. Because that's the point of compensation isn't it? So their error means you don't lose out.

I do not feel that they have actually answered my complaint in particular the possible health implications of finding a used plaster in my crisps!

Hmmm - the health implications of actually finding something of nutritional value in a packet of Curly Fries. Shocking! :D

Maybe that is their general moneyback offer.

We wrote a letter to them as we bought some steaks from them, cooked them and then realised they were basically just gristle. The meat was of such a poor quality and it really was not a voter enjoyable meal. And I don't know about you but we don't have steaks that often! And we were sent a £10 gift card too.

If I'd found a plaster in my crisps I'd be asking for more than that. I get that you've 'made money' but you've found a USED plaster in what you are eating. That is absolutely disgusting. I'd be taking it further but then everybody handles things differently!

Given the cross-infection controls necessary in places like dental practices, I would find this completely unacceptable.

The thing people think of when coming into contact with other people's blood and blood products is HIV and AIDS.

In reality, HIV is a very easy virus to kill. It does not survive at all outside of the body so there would be zero risk of contracting something like that here.

Hepatitis on the other hand is still an incredibly serious disease, and that is something that it would be possible to pick up from such a situation.(If the plaster wearer was a carrier).

I think the manufacturer of these items should be taking this quite a lot more seriously.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

How do you know the manufacturer is not taking it seriously?

Its probably a individual fault for not reporting his plaster went missing.

If your that worried about hepatist. Think about people not wearing plasters with cuts?
  • if you refuse the £10 and say your going to report this to the food standads agency unless you feel they are propley going to compensate you i.e £50 or more plus a new what ever the plaster was in , i have done this before when i bought a expencive joint of meat from butchers counter and got it home and it was off and stank . i had £ 100 gift voucher and a new joint of meat , show them whose boss and always demand the manager , get them to get the hightest person you can talk to adn make note of names if any attitude or bad behavior ( btw customers always right rember that)

Crikey, they could have come back with a total denial (and you couldn't have proven otherwise) but they accepted blame, apologised AND gave you a tenner despite not doing any harm to you... and it's not enough.

they didnt give the OP a tenner tho did they?

they have her £10 to spend in their store, on more curly fries/plasters

£10 on their products probs means they gave the OP more like £1

    :(

I wouldn't personally contact a business in this way, demanding more money in exchange for not taking action could well backfire if they write back advising you to contact them if you want. If Tesco have no clear evidence whether the original poster is telling the truth at this stage, such a demand looks more like a threat.

In my view Tesco should be absolutely clear here that they're going to take this up with the manufacturer and keep you informed. I think it's fair to make this very clear to them, so that you know it's being taken seriously.

Personally I'd expect the manufacturer to make some recompense here as well if they find out they are at fault. Finding a used plaster in food isn't something the manufacturer is going to want to explain to Tesco very often, and in my view, the manufacturer should try and satisfy the customers for their own business relationship with the supermarket if nothing else.

Hurrah, and honest customers pay more to cover the greed of a few others.

At least I think that is what you wrote.

All you got was £10 and you chipped your tooth.Would cost more than that to get it fixed at the dentist.Skinny Gits.

it wasn't anything major just a bit of the enamel chipped off - if I run my tongue over it I can feel where it's come off but its not a big bit and it doesnt affect anything and I figured if it needed anything doing to it I am with an NHS dentist anyway.
