OP, what colour was the plaster?0

Crikey, they could have come back with a total denial (and you couldn't have proven otherwise) but they accepted blame, apologised AND gave you a tenner despite not doing any harm to you... and it's not enough.0

Any advice on how to respond back to them....(not v good at complaining!!)
Don't bother replying at all. You're a tenner up, that's pretty good all told.
You're quite unlikely to get more of an apology out of them. They probably have hundreds/thousands of complaints a day - some genuine, some not - and so they have a standard template letter and standard compensation they send out.
When I worked for customer services for a major supermarket, we were told it costs £27 every time we sent something to the lab to be analysed. So in effect, we were advised to offer anything up to that figure to appease the customer in store (most people's "price was around £10 to £15 by the way). The stuff that did go to the lab? Well, most of it, they'd look at and go "yep it's a plaster" and then generate the stock reply/compensation letter (which was about £10 so the customer would often get less and have to wait longer for it.) The only time they ever did anything with it was when there was illness or apparent malicious contamination.
Meanwhile, they'd just pass back the cost of the refund and goodwill to the supplier, so no skin of the supermarket's nose how much the handed out. This one could run and run. The last one did.

I immediately thought of that when I saw this thread. :rotfl:
Sorry OP, not making light of your very legitimate complaint. Just recognising the coincidence."So long and thanks for all the fish" :hello:0 -
What timescale is this in. They have looked at your complaint and found it valid, given you a sweetener and passed it on to the manufacturer to investigate. You may well be hearing more later.0

Did you get a receipt?

What if there had been a Finger in the plaster???
I'd have chased gurls about the place with it0 -
I'm not in the habit of complaining so just wanted a bit of advice! I'll stick with the giftcard they have sent and drop them an email to say received!
I just wanted a bit more of an apology from them!
What do you mean 'more of an apology'? you either have had an apology or haven't but you also posted an apology in your opening post so it's clear you have had one. Which would imply it's not more of an 'apology' you want.
The investigation will take a while though so if it's recently that's why you won't of had much of a response to that point.0 -
I think OP means the letter glossed over her complaint regarding the potential health implications of a used plaster being in food - eg it says "this must have been concerning for you" rather than something like "we agree a plaster being in the packet could present a risk to your health".
£10 is pretty standard - that's what I got when I chipped my tooth on a stone in an asda sandwich. yeah it sucks that there was a foreign object that shouldnt be there but it's done now so there's nothing I can do so I used the voucher and carried on. They also said they would contact me after it had been investigated but it was last year so I very much doubt they took any action whatsoever.0 -
It should have been a blue plaster in food production/preperation.
