Would any of you group that seem happy to speculate on how I view friendship have to ask your mate to put his hand in his pocket?, now I doubt you would because a true friend would offer, not wait to be asked.
Maybe the op should have titled it "What price true friendship?",
Or "How to lose a friend without really trying"
Oh, chaps it's a commonly held view that everyone spending there time posting help on here is a billy no mates anyway, :rotfl:, so you know what I think about you too.:T:T:T
PS people on here aren't real, they don't count as your friends no matter how much you thank each other :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
are you a Billy too?0 -

I think what's puzzling everybody is that because the OP didn't say:
"Hi, going on a trip with a friend in my car, 200 miles each way. My friend offered to split the fuel cost How do I work out how much fuel money to ask for? We'll share it 50/50 but my mind is a blank on how to work it out"
you have assumed that the OP's friend is trying to scrounge a 400 mile lift for free. A much simpler explanation is that the OP left out anything along the lines of the bit I added in bold for no more sinister reason that because it has no relevance to his question.0 -
It's a simple matter of division, however someone decided to turn the thread into a "I think I've got more friends than you" issue.0

i have not got any friends, so it doesn't matter to me either way.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

Sounds to me that the OP and friend have already decided to split it 50/50, but the OP doesn't know how much to ask for...
F**k knows what cyclonebri is on...??
OP, if your friend has already agreed to the 50/50 and you're struggling to work it out prior to leaving, then just make your journey, pay for the petrol and get your mate to give you 50% of whatever the fuel cost you when you get back.0 -

Boy you guys have got some funny ideas about friendship, hope you get better soon.
If you have mates, an idea a few on here may not comprehend, then you pay, in turn, if you don't then you are gone.
It's not difficult.
nb,
how does that work then?0 -
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Op asks what to charge his mate, not given him the chance to offer?
That's jumping the gun.
Two issues, fuel isn't 50% of the journey? agreed? and;
Sharing costs 50/50 is impossible, you cannot dissect friendship this way cybernauts.
What do I get off on? maybe having a few trusted friends that don't react like you guys.
Still at least it's been relatively polite in MSE motoring terms, no one's hit the swear filter yet.
I appreciate(ish) your views, have them, but don't try to outlaw mine, they are simply my and your views, pass the weed broI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

OP clearly states "we'll share it 50/50" that to me says his mate is already in on the deal... but the OP doesn't know how much to take from him.
The OP doesn't mention "costs" only "fuel"...
Why don't you go back and read the OP. It's only 1 and a bit lines of text. Jeez.
Funny how EVERYONE disagrees with you, eh?0 -

If his ex to be mate is already in on the deal why did the op ask how much to CHARGE him.
Don't care if you and your cyber mates disagree with me, this is what the forum is about, opinions.
"Funny how EVERYONE disagrees with you, eh
Don't try and get magnanimous about that, 'cos you might just be wrong, but since you've closed your mind to that, |I'm gone.
Well at least no one died:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:and yes, I do find it funny, infact I find your lack of restraint hilarious,
