    Do not feed the trolls....

Do like jaydeeuk1 says; you know it makes sense.

The OP is asking how much money to ask his friend for for a journey they will share, it's not a trolling issue, it a problem the op has, poor chap. If he sees things totally in monetary terms then I feel sad for him.

Repeat, how the hell can someone come on here and ask how much he should charge his mate for a drive around? insane,:(:(:(:(:(:(
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

200 miles is'nt a road trip, it's a journey a couple of friends might take together over 1 day.
If the op is concerned about sharing the costs of this short journey, he has a problem. Sorry, but mates do this by taking turns in absorbing the fuel costs, If this is a one off, they ain't mates if he feels the need to be preciseous exactus.

The op brought friends/mates into the equation, he simply doesn't know the meaning of the word, or he wouldn't ask.

So in a car getting 40mpg this is going to cost over £60 for a 'joint' trip.

You want the OP to not only take their car and risk anything going wrong with it but also pay the majority or all the fuel costs?

What is wrong with splitting the cost? Can't imagine the trip is a weekly event to take turn about.

That's the issue I was trying to establish, this is a 1 off

Boy you guys have got some funny ideas about friendship, hope you get better soon.

If you have mates, an idea a few on here may not comprehend, then you pay, in turn, if you don't then you are gone.
    It's not difficult.

  • I can't see how it's hard to work out - divide the amount of fuel used by two.

If you can't divide by two... no wait, anything I say now will be offensive, and will result in a hissy fit by someone. :p

Some people do like to complicate the most simple things.
Divide the cost of fuel by two. Anything else is complicating things. How difficult can it be.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

I reckon they just let cyclonebri1 do all the driving, if he's a true friend he'll pay for everything...

And if he invites them on a night out, they don't buy rounds, he buys all the drinks because he invited them.

I was planning to go to the cinema tomorrow with a few friends, do you want to come cyclonebri1? You can pick us up on the way and if you choose the film you get to pay for everyone's tickets. :)

OP, jaydeeuk1 gave you the right advice.

As an aside, most cars will easy do 200 miles on a tank so there is no need to fill up before you set off, fill up when you arrive and presumably fill up again when you get back.

Fill up once, do the trip, fill up when you get back, divide that cost by two.

    simple.

    5t.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

I read it as 200 miles each way, ie 400 mile?

    Good point!

Still.... might be possible depending on the motor. I think I was put off by all the "it's only 200 miles that's not a road trip" chat higher up.
