Honestly, the OP is on benefits and technically I and other working people are paying for her damn pet. I'm more than happy for people to have pets, but NOT if its me and the working people who end up paying for them! Its totally ridiculous. She got a dog and didn't think it would need a vet?! :rotfl: Give me a break :rotfl:
Its just totally irresponsible IMO.
I would actually go as far as to say that a dog would be fine in a shelter/home as they would at minimum provide vet treatment when necessary
Blast away, I'm getting very used to this forum. Darn people and their opinions ey! We should all nod and agree and batter people into submission! Hurrah!
You really are such a horrible, nasty person. If you can't say anything useful, or at the least 'nice', then why don't you get the message that no-one on here likes you and your nasty remarks.0 -
Some people find them selves on a low income/benefits through no fault of their own. They may already own pets, what would you expect them to do? - Get rid of their pets?
Even if they got the pets whilst on benefits, there is no shame in that, they probably have more time on their hands to spend with their pets and they may need a companion to help them through bad times.
Even people who work and don't claim benefits can be on a low income and be able to feed the pet but not be able to afford a high vet bill or the monthly installments on insurance.
My dog's insurance has rocketted from something like £20 odd a month to over £64 per month and I still have to pay an excess of £75 for a new claim. That is not easy to find for someone like myself who is on limited income with no one else in the household to support them and before you have a go at me - I work seven days a week. I put my dog before anything and just hope that I am never in the position that I couldn't afford a vet bill because I would beg, borrow or steal to help him.0 -
I went to the vets yesterday for Flea, worming and annual booster with kennel cough. £80 in one go! But the vets have this in place that I signed up to which helps me a hell of a lot. http://thehealthypetclub.co.uk/
I pay £9.99 a month and get flea, worming and other stuff for the year. So much easier than trying to find £80 straight off the bat. What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0 -
But you pay £120 to save £80. Surely, on all levels, better to learn to save for yourself?
I know there are other benefits, but whenever you list them and assign a monetary value they always turn out to be not worth the money. I can guarantee you you're not getting £184.50 worth of goods/services.0 -
I do so regularly with those with low post counts to suss out if they are trolling or to get more information about their situation. MSE has the facility for searching for an individual's posts with a couple of clicks, what is wrong with make use of it?
and what is your verdict? if i was a 'troll' (and what is the obsession with this word?) then I think I could think of a better topic than my honest simple question about help with vet costs.0 -

Feel free to actually read the entire post instead of the first line!I do so regularly with those with low post counts to suss out if they are trolling or to get more information about their situation. If you were that bothered about finding help with vet costs then you would have given all the necessary information so that people can help.0 -

Of course they are bothered about finding help, if they weren't they wouldn't have asked the question.0 -

So why have they not given their county/city/country or indeed the type of pet they have? Without that basic information they might as well be asking if anyone can give them 20p for the bus!0
