Help with vet costs???

  • Why don't you have pet insurance? You shouldn't have a goldfish if you can't afford to look after it.

and you shouldn't say anything if you can't say something nice.

I came here looking for some advice not a snidy comment. This is why I've only just started posting on here after lurking on here for months.
  • Hurrah! Another irresponsible pet owner that can't afford vet treatment!

    :T

and I'm sure your perfect so forgive me.

    What a cruel comment.

    The owner may have:
    inherited animal
been able to afford it but made redundant
    bought animal whilst on benefits

Whichever it is you won't know until you ask and comments like that are so judgemental. It also reeks of snobbery.

Some of the best behaved dogs are owned by homeless people. Yet surely those dogs should end up lonely in a totally different environment in a kennel, yes?

and to the last poster I hope that wasn't a cheeky dig at me.

How could it be? I was merely pointing out to NKH that you'd said you are on benefits and that pet insurance is a luxury rather than a basic need.

    Haha!

Honestly, the OP is on benefits and technically I and other working people are paying for her damn pet. I'm more than happy for people to have pets, but NOT if its me and the working people who end up paying for them! Its totally ridiculous. She got a dog and didn't think it would need a vet?! :rotfl: Give me a break :rotfl:

    Its just totally irresponsible IMO.

I would actually go as far as to say that a dog would be fine in a shelter/home as they would at minimum provide vet treatment when necessary :D

Blast away, I'm getting very used to this forum. Darn people and their opinions ey! We should all nod and agree and batter people into submission! Hurrah!

I just asked you a question, a perfectly valid one given you're asking for money.

I would have thought it was beeping obvious that no insurance was in place - otherwise why would the question for help towards cost have been asked.

I did not say that I didn't work.. I said I am in receipt of benefits.. not that that is my only income.

I do not own a dog, where did you get that impression from?

I wondered that too ..... wondered if I'd missed something in an earlier post you made.

  • Some people on these boards hate benefit claimants and think that they should live a very basic horrible existance with nothing nice whatsoever.
This is a terrible attitude as they may end up on benefits themselves one day or their kids or partner.
As well as the PDSA there is a vets near me, that does all an animals injections for £10.00 for those on benefits when its usually a £100 or something. You might have something like this in your area O.P.
Also Im on benefits and I make sure that I get my 2 their boosters every year £40.00 each because this keeps them well I think. Also I get their flea treatments and worming tablets off the internet as its much cheaper than the vets.
