Thats right..beat down the working man. Tut'tradesmen can be trusted, they'll rip you off in a trice..
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • The Intergas boilers have a had a good reception with the guys I know who have fitted them, haven't done one myself yet though.

£140 for the mag filter seems high
Thats probably for supply and fit in which case:
    Think I paid around £80 for a Furnox TF1.
    isn't really relevant.
£125 for a single small radiator seems high also, .............Cant be for fitting it
Why not if its supply and fit for an extra that OP wanted quoted as such and not part of the main quote?

    Cheers

    there's a massive 800 labour/Sundries cost...
why would he then be charged extra for installing?
all appears to be one quote to me.

get a few more local quotes mate the Worcester Bosch site will give you a list of local approved installers of their kit, I'm guessing other sites do the same
  • Quick update from my side: Intergas fitter is coming round next week to have a look / quote (work / bank holidays means scheduling a bit awkward). His firm is platinum registered with Intergas but I'll check how many he's fitted. Will grill him on the control side. If not convinced, then it'll probably be the straightforward boiler swap with the Worcester Bosch quote looking decent and I'll have another look in 7 years when the warranty is gone.

Thanks for all the feedback so far, it's been very helpful & interesting!
  • Intergas man failed to show this morning, eventually called and tried to reschedule but I can't take any more time off work and he won't do anything outside of 9-5. He said he'd give a rough estimate from my description over the phone, but it's for a Worcester Bosch boiler. He reckons there's no boiler / control combination on the UK market that will give me dual temperature controls for stored hot water and central heating.

At this point I'll give up, if Remeha and Intergas can't provide a decent service in Scotland's biggest city then so be it.
