Boiler replacement quote

  • yes i do agree with that, however if it's any conselation i have been fitting them for 6 yrs & only ever had one call back, the reason wb give you 10 years is because most of the boilers around apart from the really cheap ones use a stainless steel heat exchanger because of the condense, wb use an aliminum/silicon mix, they have to mix it with silicon as the acidic condense would just eat through the alimimum (spelling sorry), so all the installers said well we aren't using them anymore & their sales went down, so they had to do something to bring the installers back so they started given 10 years on the heat exchanger & if they have to change a few then it's a small price to pay.
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

You can upgrade the standard warranty on a Broag Avanta Plus to a full 5 years now, for £82.50 + VAT.

Without exception, ALL of the Avanta's I have fitted have had to have the front burner insulation replaced under warranty due to extreme cracking and disintegrating.

This is/was a known manufacturing issue and the new ones have been made with a slightly different material. They are also now pink so you know you have the new one.

I have, however, never had to change a rope seal, although this is another 'recall' situation.

As the rep gives me plenty of the new front burner insulation panels, I fit them at the annual service under warranty, rather than make the customer wait for a warranty call.

I also carry several new 'rope' seals, although they are no longer rope.

To be fair I carry a full replacement part stock for these, but have had very few problems with the newer ones.

Oh, that is a reasonable price for the extended warranty. Given that there are no Remeha registered installers in my region of Scotland, however, what are the odds of my fitter being aware of these issues / knowing a Remeha rep?

After several emails to Remeha about installers in my area, I got the following reply from them today (a week and a half after my initial enquiry)

    ---
Thank you for your enquiry. As manufacturers we unfortunately do not install appliances and as we are unable to guarantee work completed by third party installers, we do not have a recommended list of installers, this will not affect the appliance warranty in any way.

We are unfortunately unable to provide any further assistance in the matter and thank you for contacting us about our products and services.
    ---

At this point I'm going to give up on Remeha. I notice there are some Intergas installers in the area. As these can apparently use the Remeha controls (Opentherm), I'll try contacting my nearest one for some options.

Mmmm - are there not any RGIs here with Intergas experience then?

    Cheers

Haven't seen much discussion on mse about Intergas but I have on other forums where many RGIs don't think Remeha is the dog's.;)

Slothy, keep us in the loop.

Agreed but this is more of a reactive forum than a proactive one and not many peeps who come here with questions have even heard of Intergas let alone ask about them.

    Cheers

Edit: Oh! - your post to which I responded has gone which kinda makes a nonsense of my reply to you. Never mind.

I've been trained on Intergas at their head office, but have yet to fit one, or come to that, actually see one in the field!

Just got the following quote for similar installation -

    Worcester 30 Cdi! boiler!!
    £1059.00
    Horizontal! flue and extension
    £102.00
    Pipework and lagging
    £275.00
    Electrician to wire and test
    £108.00
    Labour and sundries
    £800.00
    22mm magnetic filter
    £140.00
    New Radiator in airing compartment
    £125.00
    Customer remove cws tank
    !
    New controls
    £175.00
    Condensate pipe to drain
    £25.00
    Scale reducer
    £55.00
    Remove all waste from Site
    Inc
    7 Year warranty
    Inc
    !
    £2864.00 excl vat

This does not include removal of old asbestos flue which would add another £1200

What do people think - I can't understand what the labour covers if I'm being charged £125 to install a very small radiator in airing cupboard. New gas supply is a straight run from meter about 6 mtrs in total
I'll remove the flue for £500 plus travel expenses.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Horizontal flue AFAIK come with the 30CDI

£140 for the mag filter seems high Think I paid around £80 for a Furnox TF1.

£125 for a single small radiator seems high also, if your already paying for pipework and lagging is it the cost purely for rad? CAnt be for fitting it as he's got a large labour charge on.

How many days work did they say?

Mine was done in 2 days (3 person team)
    WB30CDI
    DT10RF Controller
    TF1 Filter
    6 Drayton TRV4's
    7 New Radiators
    Movement of pipework/radiators also.
    7 Year WB Approved warranty
    Chemical clean and inhibit.
