Yes I know all unvented cylinders come with a 2 port, but the boiler manufacturers are adamant that it is unnecessary.
You could call an unvented cylinder manufacturer and ask them if the discharge is allowed to be made to a soil stack via a HEPv0 trap, and they will say know, but in reality it is allowed and done most of the time these days, especially in new build.

Ok first point it really doesn't matter what a boiler manufacturer says about a 3rd party unvented cylinder they can only give you info & fitting instructions on their own product, for example if megaflow turned around & said you don't need a flue with that boiler would you fit it without a flue no of course not.

2nd point the discharge pipe should be run in copper through out it's lenght (apart from the tundish) so no they are quite correct that you can't just chuck a plastic trap in the middle & if you or anyone else is doing this then it is contravening G3 & building regs & if i was called to service it i would condem it & report the installer.

I have inc a link that gives a brief outline of the G3 & building regs.

what I did say is that by some means or other, the boiler would have to be told when it is supplying the demand to heat the HW cylinder so that it could over ride the WC and increase the flow temperature.

I think this is what is at the heart of my problem, I have yet to find a controller / boiler combination that can do this with a megaflo cylinder. I don't even understand the complexity - a 2 channel timer and cylinder thermostat should be able to do the trick, as long as the boiler can take the hint.

I asked Worcester Bosch about their options. I know everyone says that WB has the best customer service, but hat off to them, they responded with a quick and clear message, but again it boils down to a "no".

Is this situation really so rare that there are no easy options other than to throw out my (5 year old) cylinder and re-pipe the house?

Think you will find when you re-take your G3 that this is now allowed.

I haven't as yet fitted one like this personally, but all new builds are now done like this, for the past 2 years or so.

Building inspectors and regs have passed this no problem.

I will try to find the link stating this is allowed, once I finish all my servicing paperwork and invoicing for today.

OP no you don't need to re-pipe anything, here are the two options from the boilers i fit, although the second one is the latest version out, the third one is the various wiring diagrams, have a read through & i think you will find they suit your needs without ripping floors up & installing new pipes.

Many thanks southcoastrgi. I've contacted Remeha about local installers, and I'll be visiting my local supplier (PTS) on Saturday to see if they can make any recommendations for local fitters with knowledge of the Remeha boiler.

Edit: your 1st and 2nd link appear to be the same, both point to the Celcia 20 user guide.

Ok i have just read gas4you link & did abit further searching & it does indeed seem that i was wrong with regard to the discharge pipe & you can as gas4you said fit a hep trap & terminate it into a soil stack, so i send my apologies to him for getting that wrong, it would help greatly if the MI were updated to show this alternative method.

Hmm I noticed the following on the Remeha site: "Avanta Plus System Boiler range comes with a 2 year parts and labour warranty"... that seems very stingy.

WB quote has 7 years parts & labour, and 10 year on the heat exchanger.
