Orange 'Free' Broadband
Comments

Hi all,
I've read a few of the posts in this thread and as an Orange customer affected by their latest screw up, i want to get shot of them.
I've had my letter and email re the ending of my free broadband, and like many of you i only continued to stay with Orange for the free bb, however when i renewed my contract last Nov 2011 for another 24 months i actually dropped to a lower price contract £22.50 and i was told i would still get the free BB but i see people quoting you need a £30 a month contract.
Apart from my first contract which i did in-store I've never got a new contract in writing so always assumed that the T&C's where the same? Anyway to the point of my post.
I see a few of you are contacting Orange through high up staff and also ofcom, can i just ask if you are successful with your complaints (to end your mobile contracts) will they allow other's like me who haven't contacted them or ofcom to end our contracts to? or should i start down this route? I should say i've taken the decision to get my Internet from elsewhere as i've had enough of them so don't want that option offered to me, lol.
Thanks and good luck everyone :-)

Orange will hike prices as & when to pay for 4g and Ofcon will back them every time!
For the length of the 18 month contract they will.0 -

awful ? is that more awful than losing your FREE broadband service & possible discounts & livebox extras....and paying more for line rental than can be obtained elsewhere & locked into Orange call charges where you have NO access to cheaper rate short codes.
IF Orange put a offer on the table that meant no customer would lose out in any way by moving to EE, for example £8 odd Orange line rental with short code access (at BT Wholesale price it pays for such) & keeping their current benefits Orange customers would have taken it.
However Orange just want to remove everything from customers & force them to pay their mobile contract to minimum term, Orange could have handled all these changes properly in a brand awareness adopted professional & legal manner where customers did not lose out because the internal politics & failures of Orange over many years in how to run its OWN broadband division ...IT DIDNT!SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... I would at least write to the complaints team, then if there is any sort of backdown, you may be offered the chance to terminate your mobile contract. Alternatively, if people like me win our court cases, it leaves you with the option of taking court action, safe in the knowledge that Orange cannot say "but if you were unhappy you should have complained straight away".
Good luck whatever you decide

Orange UK was a great brand with excellent customer care, last FT 10 years has seen it plummet like a ton of metal in the ocean, all to pay its grandparents debt's off.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... I too have been an orange customer since the freeserve then wanadoo days. The ONLY reason I have stayed with them for the last 2 contract renewals was because the broadband was included in my £30 per month contract, I could have the same same or better mobile phone services from another provider for much less but didn't want the hastle of changing broadband providers. I have been on the phone to them today after receiving the same letter as others about the broadband finishing in october unless I want to pay an extra £28 per month. They say it's not part of the contract and broadband is reviewed on a monthly basis. Well , I was not aware of this! Surely this can't be right, isn't it misselling? I'm locked into a 2 year contract with them that I don't want if I'm not getting the broadband!!!0

It depends if Orange/EE do an about turn and decide to honour the verbal contracts, or just accept a few write offs following small claims court actions. Ultimately, I suspect that it will depend how much bad press this issue causes, and how many customers lodge formal complaints...so the more the merrier :T

Thanks, so would you recommend just putting something in writing to the the address you quoted and await Orange's next move?

Well after asking for my MAC Code last week orange turned off my internet last night and this morning I got a text of Plusnet to say my line was live. Within 15 minutes my Internet was up and running with their new pre programmed router. I was Surprised how easy it was to change.
Next is the mobile contracts of myself and the wife. I'm lucky We only have 3 months left on them but will be fighting to be released early. if not come December I'm off to talk mobile or giff gaff anyway.
I really don't know if Orange realise how many customers they are going to lose by this. I was upset when they upped my contract mid price, and now the broadband removal but at least now I'm nearly in a position to do something about it and walk away from Orange.0
