Orange 'Free' Broadband

I'm not certain why everybody is deliberately choosing to ignore the previous paragraph.
I don't think anyone is ignoring it ... it's just that we don't agree with your assertion.0 -

It's ok to sit there and assume you're needling me and if that's what gets you through the day, then by all means, carry on, we all have to get our kicks somehow, right?
It's not my assertion. It's not my opinion or assumption. It's not my understanding, or what I believe to be true. It's fact. If no contract exists for the broadband, there's nothing you can hold Orange to. You'll just have to settle for being disgruntled that you're having to finally put your hands in your pocket for a service most people in the UK pay for anyway.
There's absolutely nothing stopping you from looking this up yourself or asking other people who actually know what they're talking about.
I'm not sure I understand why someone who isn't even affected by the decision would be in here stirring the pot, I can only imagine the cessation of the News Of The World must have opened up a huge swathe of your time and you're merely adjusting to the loss.

Update 2: I have just made a solicitors appointment for Friday for an hours advice over this - for free! Turns out my solicitors give a free 'advice' session every Friday pm!
Quickly told him my tale: he wants me to get the car phone warehouse to put in writing what Orange told them when I upgraded, I will visit them before Friday. This should be okay as they have already confirmed on the phone that they remember me, and the call that took them 40 minutes to speak to an Orange manager - who confirmed if I upgraded there I would 'keep' the free broadband for the length of the contract.
He also pointed out that under UK law a verbal contract is just as valid as a written one. I interpret this as meaning when Orange told so many of us that we would keep our broadband for the length of the contract when we upgraded - that this is a verbal contract.
I will post back after Friday.0 -

Evidence please? We get this a lot - people making statements of fact yet providing no evidence to support their view.
And no - I'm not trying to needle you, I'm just presenting an alternative viewpoint. (And I admit it is my opinion - I am not trying to present any facts about this). If you can't handle it, you know what to do.
Discussion boards/forums would be boring if everyone had the same point of view/agreed all the time.0 -

I concur with this opinion, and is (in essence) what I (and others) have been saying all along.0 -

Once someone resorts to disparaging remarks/insults it is clear they have lost the argument.0 -
I started to arrange new BB with Sky last weekend. I asked Orange for the MAC code and they want to charge me £29 for it. A MAC code from my current BB provider, Orange, who have recently sent me a termination of BB letter. What a cheek! Is this normal practice?0

MAC codes are free............scroll down to issuing MACs to end users

ACs. A1.10 The Communications Provider shall issue a MAC to the End-User free of charge.0 -

Assuming you aren't somehow still on LLU with Orange (unlikely, but who knows), then what Eva has posted is correct.0
