Hi All,
Clearly Orange are playing silly beggars disconnecting peoples bb, where this has happened and people have been given `cut off` dates that are beyond the date that Orange have actually cut them off, I feel that those affected have definately got the upper hand with Orange. That said they need to have evidence of this - emails, letters, texts.
I know for the individuals concenred the reperucussions of this can be major, being without email & internet and I for one dread to think about this. If you have acted upon receipt of the notification from Orange, or have waited as the date has not yet come then you are in the `right` here.
How you proceed with this is up to you, I for one would be detailing the sequence of events that has led up to this, dates on letters etc.
I would send this to Orange in both email & hard copy, I would copy in Ofcom with reference numbers, Olaf Swantee - Orange`s M.D. and anyone else you feel relevant - there is a name of a journalist mentioned, copying her in on an email with a newspapers domain would help I think. Say what you want and when you want it by ( I would definately want compensation for this ). Send them off.
Do not wait, you want your service reinstated, call Orange exec office - hopefully you will already have a contact if not get one - a named individual is essential, you have 2 complaints now, the removal of free bb and the disconnection of your service. Explain the email & letters you have sent and who you have sent it to. You want your service on NOW ( I know in reality if will take time but you don`t want to admit that ). You want compensation for Orange`s error in disconnecting your service - start high, you can always come down but you can`t go up ! I was given £250 over the threat of removal - many emails, phone calls & letters mind you.
Call Ofcom, I know you have written & emailed them but make a seperate complaint to them over the phone about the disconnection of service prior to notified date.
You need to make waves about this, I know not everyone has time but try your best, it is for your own good. If you want out of your Orange contract completely and it suits, this is an ideal time. Everyone has their own priorities but dont forget who has the upper hand.
For those here who have not yet done anything then this should be a warning to you, I for one never thought Orange would be so stupid as to actually disconnect a service let alone before the `latest date` given. You need to act over this, follow Eva`s guide, get the Ofcom complaint reference, this is more important than ever now. If you do not complain to Ofcom there will be no official record of Orange`s actions and the more complaints made can only effect Orange / EE. This is only the time of a phone call or online complaint form - please do it. Then call the `special team, stress mis- selling get the commitment of bb til end of mobile contract - call exec office with Ofcom ref number - tel them Ofcom told you to call them - push for whatever you want.
Good Luck All.

Hi,
I think this means you have agreed to move your landline to Orange.
If you are happy with that then great.
Many here though do not want that.

NO - that is the current 'offer' sent out in the notice of withdrawal of free BB.
My free BB was in place from July 2006 when Orange bought out Wanadoo - formerly Freeserve - and free BB was offered for LIFE on the provision I entered into and maintained a monthly Mobile phone contract for £30 per month.
Initially, in 2006, this was in direct competition to the Carphone Warehouse who set up their 'Free for Life' BB service via Talk Talk , Orange then responded with their own offer in an attempt to stop their Wanadoo customers migrating to Talk Talk.0 -
This offer was back in 2007. My landline is still with BT and Orange said that if for my billing is switched to them whilst having my mobile phone contract then my broadband for life would be free. Two years later i cancelled my mobile contract but was told aslong as i kept the Orange number which i moved to pay as you go then i would continue to receive free broadband.
It's a complete joke especially for you guys in contracts. I spoke to CS and they said the offer was only meant to be for a couple of years which i replied back with why call it broadband for life? I suppose if there scrapping their equipment in the exchange and using BT's then it's going to lose money so they want us all to pay for it.
It seems every company seems to screw us over these days and it's a sad sign of the future. Come on :money:get your !!!! into gear and help everybody out with this.0 -

I am finding it difficult to comprehend the agreement you have with them?
Do you mean you use VOIP? - ie your phone is plugged into your Orange Livebox router? - therefore you make and receive calls via VOIP?- over internet?
If this is the case you would have been given a separate number for this by Orange which is in your BB account.
Your BT and number should still be active.
What a mess this all is - with so many different deals done with so many customers.
Are you sure you are not on the £5+ package for calls and BB?
I do not have this but others do and will be able to comment0 -
Hi, no the offer was that all calls made from my landline are billed to orange instead of BT but i continued to pay BT line rental. I paid no monthly fee to Orange. I'm 100% sure it's not VOIP. Cheers0

Well it looks like things are changing!!
I finally got my phone call from the 'buy our landline team' this morning. When I told them I would not be taking the deal as I was promised free BB for the term of my mobile contract, the reply was 'that wasn't the case'. I stated as she was recording our conversation that it should be possible to pull the tapes for my mobile renewal conversation. I also told her that I was just about to get an OFCOM case reference to contact the moblile Dept. about mis-selling.
I was put on hold and on return was told that my free BB would be extended until the end of my mobile contract.
So if it is just the free BB till the end of your mobile contract you are after (like me) then I suggest you ring the number on your original cut-off e-mail / letter as I suspect they will answer calls to that number more promptly as they are possible sales (line rental) calls0 -

Well done.
Hope you have insisted your agreement is in writing? Even if it is just an email.
With no Ofcom case number for future reference there will be no proof.
Orange verbal agreements are able to be manipulated as has been shown.0 -

Thanks Eva
I have insisted on an at least an e-mail response and reminded her that she has recorded our conversation. She did say she was just back off holiday and it was the first time she has been instructed to extend the free BB. Whether that is just to people who mention mis-selling or Ofcom I guess we will never know.0
