I'm up to date, absolutely no problems on my E.ON account yet E.ON shared data with Equifax about my account in August 2017. The problem was that they didn't update it and the information shared was incorrect. I spoke to them about this stating that it is a breach of Data Protection (Principle 4) for failing to keep their information up to date and accurate. I only realised by accident as I only checked my Credit File last month. I can't tell you how much I despise this joke of a Company but in the past month (March - presently), they've amended it, not once but three times and its still incorrect.

They've written to me and admitted they failed to give the correct information and have offered me £75 as a good will gesture. They say its now correct but Equifax have told me otherwise.

In Dec 2017, I was refused car insurance on a monthly basis and couldn't afford to pay a one off yearly payment so my car has been sat off road on my property since December when it was due for renewal. The knock on effect of a bad Credit File that was and has been pristine for years and years wiped out because of E.ON. I've heard of incorrect data share compensation which I believe would be through the small claims court. Has anybody got any experience of taking them to court?

    Head and brick wall!

    Step 1. Enter a query with ClearScore. ClearScore pass to Equifax;

"We understand you recently viewed your ClearScore credit report and requested that some information be changed. ClearScore have passed your request to us here at Equifax so that we can look into it for you.

Step 2. Equifax respond; "We acknowledge your comments concerning the details on your query. We apologise, however we don't have access on how Clearscore is computing your credit score, we can only suggest that you contact Clearscore directly to verify this information"

Anyone any suggestions where I turn next?

    Hi Chip47

I see you've been sorted but if you need to deal with Equifax in future don't bother going through Clearscore, just go straight to Equifax on 0800 014 2955 (free number) they take disputes over the phone. I initially went to Clearscore and it was never dealt with.

Hello ChewChewChew and I'm sorry mistakes have been made when sharing data with Equifax.

You're doing the right thing in taking this down our complaints route. Our Datashare Complaints team will have reviewed the information and let you know if changes have been made to your credit file. It can take up to 14 days for changes to show on credit files.

As I mentioned to molerat above, as you're not satisfied with the resolution we've offered, take this to the next level and have the complaint reviewed. If you're still unhappy, we'll let you know how to approach the Energy Ombudsman for an independent assessment.

I've been to the Ombudsman about them before for their stupidity about a faulty meter and they had to pay me £75 and send a letter of apology. I know if I take it to an independent review they'll take longer than 2 days and make sure I have to go to the Ombudsman to be awkward. I know they're doing this on purpose from one of their emails the Resolution Manager sent me (you have to see it to believe it) and the problem here is the amount of time it takes when I don't have that time to have rubbish sat on my File. I have to move house in 2 months and I have no idea what I'm going to do because I can't rent with it like it is and if I wanted another mortgage.....nope, I can't even bear to think about all this. I'm amazed these Companies can get away with doing this to people.

Obviously both EON and Equifax employ idiots. Even after sending them copies of what is being reported and EON stating that the account is closed neither can see what is wrong by it still being currently reported as active. I will wait for my next report to come through and see if they have actually sorted it then go through the full complaints procedure and will expect compensation for my time.

Equifax have now come back after my little rant reply to their last communication stating that the incorrect information will be removed. Will wait for the update.
  • Great news molerat :T
  • The Resolution Manager has told me in writing that I have to wait 6 weeks for their latest information given to Equifax to show on my report and get this, she told me to keep checking my report and if it hasn't changed after the 6 weeks to get a screen shot to her so she get back to the data share specialist team. I had to re-read it a few times because I can't believe she actually wrote that!

Hmmm, as a Manager of Resolution especially, shouldn't she know exactly what their update to Equifax was before she put that in writing to me! Liar liar pants on fire, the update is the same update E.ON gave as last time so it's still incorrect. I like that they're playing with my Credit File and find it funny.

Oh and I can't have an impartial review of the case if I don't like the way its been handled by her until after the 6 week wait to see if my Credit File has been corrected. After that if its still incorrect, I can.

    REALLY!

I spoke to Equifax today and its real time. They generated the report and show me whats on it as of today. Any updates that are given from E.ON to Equifax are also real time and they're dated the day E.ON give the share information. Come on now E.ON you are blatantly 'taking the michael' and deliberately being awkward. I don't believe for one minute that E.ON's data share specialist team don't know that. I therefore concur that this Resolution Manager dealing with my case is deliberately delaying, stalling, outrightly lying and attempting to distress me further.

The date she states E.ON gave correct data shares to Equifax is not the date Equifax was given data shares so she lied and in writing too!

Just downloaded my latest report from Clearscore and the Eon account has disappeared - note not being reported correctly, just gone altogether. Obviously easier to wipe it than correct it.
  • this company is horrendous, they should not be allowed to credit report they are that slow at corrections and looking into problems with peoples credit scores.

all you get off the eon reps on here is sorry this and sorry that and raise a complaint here then raise another one so they can reveiw it if not happy,
then if eon dont agree with your complaint after months of messing around you can go to the ombudsman, after they screw your credit record up on a whim.

even when they have discovered errors they tell you it takes weeks to ammend on top. disgusting service and bad customer care.

it helps keep the bills low eon reps say, yet eon bills were the highest i ever had thats why i left, with your dodgy age concern tariffs that were nothing more than overpriced garbage, which i believe you were picked up on, eon had me on this tariff for two years , my dual fuel bills dropped by 80 pounds per month when i moved supplier.

these bunch of clowns are just so so wrong . do not use this company they are awful
