Morning Raxiel and sorry we've caused you concern about your credit report.

This is very much like the issue molerat reported earlier in the thread (posts #71 and #73). To be honest, I don't know why this is happening so I've raised it with the part of the business that look after Datashare issues. I'll let you know more as soon as they come back to me. Probably be next week now as I'm not in until next Tuesday.

    Speak later Raxiel.

    Malc

Hello Raxiel and our Datashare people have come back to me. As promised, I've some more information for you.

Your situation could be down to a few things. One is where the system sometimes sticks when sharing a U status (unclassified). This gives the appearance that the account is still open on a customer's credit file. If this is the case, it's likely it'll show as a series of greens. This is only where a U is involved.

Another possibility is where a share happens during a change of supplier. It could be the share goes ahead after the switch goes through but before the account fully closes. This will show as up to date (0) further down the line. Again, giving the appearance the account is open.

Recently, we started sharing information of certain customers where we previously hadn't. This changed the status from excluded (X) to up to date (0). These started to appear on customer's credit files gradually as the information filters through often quite a time later. Again, giving the appearance an account was open.

Given these variables, it's difficult to say exactly what has caused your particular situation. For more specific details you can either speak to Equifax or the company you're using to view the credit report. Alternatively, you can talk to us and we'll take it up with Equifax. Let me know if I can help. Although I don't deal with Datashare issues directly, I'll be happy to pass your details to our Datashare team for investigation and explanation.

Sorry this is a bit vague Raxiel but hope it helps a little.

Bringing this old thread back to life.

Checked my Clearscore (Equifax) report and there is my old closed in 2012 account still being reported back to 2013 alongside my opened in 2015 (and ended but not closed and billed due to switching to Iresa !) account. It may be that Equifax / Clearscore have screwed up and somehow linked the reporting of the second account to the old. Not a major problem as it shows all green but should not be happening.

Yes you have misunderstood, the closed account is still being reported every month alongside the current account ;)

An old Equifax report from Feb 2016 correctly shows it as settled in Dec 2012 which was a correction from the continued reporting into 2014 mentioned way back in this thread (#36) but in my latest report it shows continually reported back to 2013.

I am not really bothered as it is all green ticks. I will wait until the current live(ish) account is closed off and see what happens then.

    Hello molerat.

Just posted a bit more information about sharing with Equifax above (post #93). Don't know if it's of interest with the situation you raised earlier. Please ignore if not.

Know where you're coming from Chip47. It's never good when things go wrong and I'm sorry you had a bad experience following the credit check we did.

We've been sharing with Equifax for a number of years now and, as with anything, sometimes it goes wrong. Whether this is as a result of human error or a system glitch, we've arrangements in place to sort these situations. You did the right thing and went down our complaints route so the mistake could be highlighted and put right.

As I said to Raxiel, at the moment, I don't know why we're sharing on closed accounts with no outstanding balances. This is something I'm looking into with our Datashare people and I'll update this thread once I have the details.

Similarly, I don't know which other energy suppliers share with Credit Reference Agencies. We find, as well as helping us offer suitable payment terms to customers, it helps us manage our debt situation more effectively too. Also, for customers who pay promptly, it has a positive impact on their external credit score.

Sorry again you had a bad experience Chip47. As above, I'll update this thread when I've more information.

As promised Chip47. A bit more information. Hope it's of interest.

My new Clearscore report has one change this month, one closed account. The "new" E.On account which was paid off in Sept has been correctly closed but the "old" (as mentioned previously closed in 2012 but re-incarnated when I rejoined in 2015) one is still showing.

Reported this to Equifax via Clearscore but they don't seem to understand a simple "don't have an account with E.On" and want me to give them all the details of the account I don't have. They can't seem to be able to look at my credit report and query with E.On what they are reporting. I thought the 4th principal was that the reporter had to be satisfied that information they are using was correct and that by me stating it is not means they must check and justify it without making me jump through hoops.

Also complained to E.On and have had a reply. They agree they have correctly closed and updated the account that I told them they have correctly updated. No mention of the actual complaint about the one they are incorrectly reporting. Do the CS staff actually read the complaints

Hello molerat and I'm sorry you're unhappy with the way we're looking after your complaint. I'd take this to the next level and go to our Review team. They'll take a second look at what's gone before. They'll either uphold what we've already proposed as a resolution or offer an alternative. If you're unhappy with the review, we'll let you have a Final Resolution Offer letter to help when approaching the Energy Ombudsman.

Sorry again we weren't able to sort this first time molerat.

How about you undo the damage you have done.

This is why I NEVER pay by DD I do not want a credit agreement and I will never deal with a supplier that uses them to search for prople paying good old fashioned CASH !
