today i put a young lady into a small ford, a car she badly needs, see, shes a carer, you know the type that has to wipe up your mothers sick, she recognises its not a new car, she also recognises that if it breaks down i couldnt wave a magic wand, she really needs this car to visit these folk, not only to wipe up, but also to get wages to feed her 6 year old son, her last vehicle is sat on her drive with a blown engine, a private purchase that was described as exceptional.0

thanks ?

Buy private evey time, as you prove.0 -
original post said she emailed seller first
we have no idea what she put in that email
This is my first e-mail:
I am writting to you because I purchased a Ford Fusion 3 1.6 in black from you 3 days ago and I am having problems with it.
The main issue, is whilst driving on the A379 this morning (18/8/12) the car very suddenly lost power to the engine and came up with an EAC warning. I almost ended up in an accident as a result.
Despite the age and milage of the car I feel it is more than reasonable to expect a car not to have a serious fault with in 3 days of purchase.
Before this happend I had planned on being in touch anyway, because after taking out the air freshner that was in the car when I purchased it, we have discoverd the car has a very musty / dampish almost a little chemically smell to it. The smell or fumes or what ever it is, are bad enough that my partner is unable to be in this car without developing a headache whilst in or very shortly after getting out of the car depending on the length of journy. Trips with the both of us in the car have been under 10 miles at a time thus far.
I am concerned that there is a squeeky like sound comming from the engine.
I am also concerned with the way in which the car drives, I have found that whilst driving the car almost feels like it is unable to cope with being in the correct gear at times. For example a car shouln't have any problems being in 3rd gear if its doing 30 - 40 mph but if i'm below 35mph the car feels like its struggling, This also appears to apply to all of the gears and the relivent speeds.
As I'm sure my e-mail has explained I am very disapointed with how things have gone with this car. I intend to come to your dealership tomorrow (Sunday 19/8/2012) to discuss with you were we go from here.
The suspention issue was something I was shown by a work college after this e-mail an was un-aware of it at the time this was sent.0 -
its called impact
and it worked
i notice OP hasnt answered the question
my guess is they bartered the dealer down to 2 grand probably from $2495 he then offered his standard 3 month warranty but OP upped it with the $500 they saved
car then went on to have a very common eac failure and a blocked aircon possibly as stated because pollen filter blocked
OP then emailed dealer i suspect rejecting car in strong language and turning up on a sunday when man on his own and giving him some verbal ,he responded by advising his man would initiate repairs once they rang the number he proffered
OP then goes on to drive car and clutch problem develops again its an old banger and clutches do go
OP then goes on to get office junior to push suspension down and is told that shouldnt have passed the mot either
im on no ones side by the way i dont give 2 hoots for selling dealer but if OP swore he had horns on his head some of you on here would believe the OP
basically dont spend 2g on a 100,000 miler crap ford and expect necter
Actually I have answered your question in previous responces in this thread, hence I mentioned that in my original reply.
As for the price of the car it was not haggled down a single penny, I have saved a screen shot of the advertisement on his web page as proof of this should I need it.
Please don't insult my college by calling him the office junior, I never said he said it should have failed it's mot, I said he told me that a good healthy suspention would only bounce once, somthing which i was easily able to confirm on the internet. What is also availible on the internet is a list of what is checked in a IV MOT test and under suspention it says that using the same test my "office junior" did to see if the car provides adequate damening effect on the car. As this fact is under question I am under advice of the people here and citizens advice seeking a second opinion.
My first e-mail, ive just recently posted in a response to another post, not that I need to justify myself like that, but as I am mostly relient on the advice and support I have been getting here, I'm happy to share it if it people feel it's suspect that I haven't for what ever reason.
And to be completly honest, whilst simply expressing your opinion , which for what ever reason is a little extreme as as far you assumptions go, your post has managed to come accross much more agressive than I ever intended or had the opertunity to be when I went to see the dealer. I work in retail and can at least have the good sense to apreciate that barging in with all guns blazing is not exactly the right start if you wish to resolve an issue. You may also like to note I was at first seeking an exchange, and one which the dealer could have profited more from had he had the sense to at least let me say my piece to him first as I would have been able to tell him how I would like to have resolved the issue..
I don't really know why my asking for advice on what to do when things go wrong has upset you so much. Isn't that kind of what this website is for, people asking each other for support and advice?
The bit about spending 2g on a 100k mile banger, 100k miles does not automatically make it a banger. the car I have had to borrow whilst all this goes on, has 132k miles on the clock, it drives just fine, it suspention is fine, ok its a bit worn around the edges and the central locking doesnt work 100% of the time and theres a few stains on the upholstry. But those are the kind of faults I would expect with a car like that, fact is the car i am borrowing is roadworthy, the car I bought is not.
Did I expect necter? No
Did I expect ar car which does what a car is designed to do (get me from A to B safely)? Yes
Did I expect that as I had bought from a dealer, especially one with its own gaurage that the car would have been looked over and put in a condition that would last more than 3 days with out a fault that would put it's owner in danger? Yes I did.
The same thing every customer should expect of a product they buy, if it is a used product then it should be at the very least free from dangerous faults at the time of purchase.
Does this answer all of your questions?
Do you actually have any constructive critacisum , with the steps I have taken thus far , which you would like to pose?
Or is you purpose here to simply to troll people? because looking at some of the post that have come after yours, your doing a fine job there...
To those who commented on ringing my credet card company, I'll add that to my call list when office hours open tomorrow. thank you.0 -

so how far have you got OP what did the CC say to you.0 -
It's been a few days, but for those who have been guiding me through this process, I thought i'd post and update.
Trading standards have been in touch and are looking over the details so far to make sure that both me and the dealer are playing fair. I've sent all the details I have and am waiting for a reply, which i should have soon now the bank hol is over.
Vosa did contact me, but were really keen to let the original gaurage to re-look at the car, before they would touch it. As it has now become a trust issue between me and the people I have got the car from, I ellected to get my car MOT'd by another gaurage. someone independant and no were near the place i bought it.
The car has failed it's MOT, the drivers side suspention is gone and needs replacing imediatly, one of the tires is also illegal. there is also an advisory note that the suspention on the passengers side is very much on its way out as well and would need replacing shortly.
I feel like a weight has been lifted, knowing there really is somthing wrong with this car and it's not just me being paranoid because the relasionship of trust between me and the dealer has deteriorated.
It bothers me that as a consumer you have more rights when buying a pack of chewing gum than you do when buying a car, 28 day cooling period of the chewing gum, 0 day coling period for the car for example, worse still if you have problems with a car it is all down to you as the consumer to fight tooth and nail to get your rights upheld.
I know it's not all over yet and it may still not go in my favor, but im now starting to feel quite hopeful.
Thank you all so far for everything you've said, I may not even have made it this far without you.

I'm glad you've kept us up to date with the situation. Not many OP's do that.
Thank You."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Please, as you have went down the hard path of toil and argument, get this new garage (who you might be surprised are looking for some paid work) and get them to detail the condition of the car in writing on their headed paper.
Unfortunately, even with details of the car, a lot of skill, knowledge and experience, I cannot begin to guess what suspension, "gone" and, "passengers side is very much on its way" can mean in any useful sense.
Added to that vague pitch for work and apparently VOSA didn't take you seriously (a very dedicated bunch of lads in my experience), I'm going to assume you didn't take up the vendors offer to have it looked at and you will have to ponder why, at a later date, you failed to mitigate your losses.0 -
