Hugs Code, shopping for baby presents is very very hard.

Just been to Weightwatchers (a lunchtime meeting near work). I have put on TEN!!!! pounds over Christmas. Not even sure how that's possible (although champagne for breakfast and copious amounts of red wine all day/evening probably didn't help). I will be shifting this as quickly as possible. Feel absolutely disgusted with myself :(

I'm the other way. I'd rather know.

I guess there are some advantages to testing early if you'd not been pregnant before it would prove you could conceive so tubes unblocked for example. But the happiness of a positive test followed by the disappointment of an early miscarriage would be awful. I think push came to shove I'd rather not know. When I do get a BFP I think I'm going to allow myself to be happy for about five minutes before I let the worry set in.

    Morning all.

Just a quickie, I would very much advise against testing too early now having had my fingers well and truely burnt 2 months in a row last year.

Lou - I understand what you mean by saying you kind of wished you'd tested so at least you'd know one way or another, but actually for me now personally having been through the heartache and disappointment, I'd rather not know now.

    x

omg for a second I read that and thought it had happened to you again and I felt sick! So glad your post wasnt about that and you are ok!

But yes I agree with you Id rather not get a bfp and then have it go wrong.

Ive never tested before AF is due though as I just wait for it to come, so Ive only ever done one pregnancy test and it was positive (apart from one I did purely to prove to DH I wasnt pregnant as I knew I hadnt even ovulated yet but I was on cd40 or something so had to prove it to him!)

big loves code, it always upsets DH to see the display cots or as he puts it, the empty cots...
sometimes it's exciting to think 'i'll dress my baby in that' but other days it seems impossible that that will ever happen x

The worst was our holiday in Portugal this year, the villa we were in, the main bedroom had a cot in the room. Each night I just looked at it and wished we had a baby to put in it. It just looked so empty.

I think if that happened again I would have to get DH to move it out the room as couldnt cope with it now.

Im normally ok with buying baby stuff though infact I love it and went a bit crazy buying stuff for my best friend although I bought most of that in the summer and when I was pg so I guess I might feel differently next time. Also I think its mainly cos I just love shopping and buying stuff for people in general as well as liking cute stuff.

Think a part of me would only want to know as then at least I'd know its possible for us....but at same time I'd be devestated and can completely understand why people wouldn't want to know.

Hugs Code :o I used to love buying baby stuff but I'm struggling with it now. :o It was so painful when we were away and looking for a gift to bring back for my little nearly-here-nephew but not being able to pick anything out for our own baby. There is the most adorable pair of bootees in the window of a shop in my town that I really should want to buy for him too but I just can't bring myself to do it. I want to buy this stuff for *my* baby, not someone else's! :p
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

    ^^ This.

I was wandering around looking at the tiny bootees and the tiny socks and the adorable sleepsuits and I was nearly in tears because I don't get to buy that stuff and put it on my baby. There is no my baby and I'm starting to think there never will be.

Facebook is not being helpful. 3 people I know have had new babies in the past 2 weeks, a few more do little more than post photos of their babies, everyone is posting the smug mom memes and one of my friends posted a photo of a pregnant woman wearing a top saying "I ♥my baby". That last one made me want to scream.

Sigh. PMA, must find some PMA.

Totally in agreement here, had a little sob in the ladies today after my colleague showed me the lovely hand knitted shawl one of our friends had made for her bump (soon to be baby). It was so soft. I'm just sad its not my baby getting something so soft :(

Did any of you watch the programme on bbc4 last night called the Baby Makers?

If any of you did see it - can I just say - the way the doctor who runs that place talked about infertility and how it affects your life, I think he should be sent out to all gps and train them! after some of the comments Ive heard on here from ladies seeing their dr. He was talking about how it gets into your mind when you want to get pregnant - its like every shop is mothercase, every woman has a baby etc, you think of it as soon as you wake up etc.

Ive only watched part of the show but thought some of you might find it interesting regardless of where you are in your ttc journey (I think its mainly about ivf) and Im guessing it will be on bbc iplayer if you missed it.

Wow Im just watching a bit now and its this lady's job to catch sperm on a microscope needle thingy. Imagine knowing that whichever one you pick will affect how the baby is like looks/genetics wise.

She tries to pick the best ones. Amazing really. Although one's head just fell off so she had to pick another! lol!

Must be a really rewarding job if it works.
