I watched that last night, I was suprised that 3 out of the 4 couples were not successful but I guess that's fairly typical of the odds in real life. I felt very sorry for the lady with the heart condition who went on to have an ectopic.
I wonder in the future if they will ever find a failsafe way to implant the embryo so that they are successful most of the time.

Oh wow I just bawled my eyes out in the last 5 mins when it showed the outcomes.

Yes I felt so bad when I read that, after all that to have an ectopic. But I was so happy to see 1 couple actually went on to have a healthy baby.

And yes weird how the odds are similar to people not under going treatment. It is a shame how they can get so far sucessfully with the science and then the last part is down to nature.

Proper cramps, making me feel sick, and a little spotting here. Expect af to be here shortly :( so frustrated.

    Sorry to hear that :(

How many cycles have you been trying for?

Im waiting for ovulation but not expecting it anytime soon. They told me to expect AF 4-6 weeks after a miscarriage, IF you have regular cycles. Which I dont. So Im thinking maybe I will ovulate 4-6 weeks after!
  • Claire - sorry to alarm you!

I watched that programme last night too, and found it fascinating. The embryologists job looks so interesting, much more worthwhile than the office job I do!

I agree, that consultant seemed to have completely the right attitude towards fertility problems.

I was sad that only 1 couple was successful too.

We're all feeling very sorry for ourselves in the Foo household... little nephew has the winter sickness bug and has kindly decided to share. I've only been sick twice so far (on my day off!), but any more and I'm going to have to call in to work as we're supposed to be clear of vomiting for 48 hours before returning. I reeeeally don't want to though, the NHS is cracking down hard on absenteeism and I don't want to have even 1 instance. If it gets to the stage where it's not safe for patients though then I really have no choice.

I also have my scans tomorrow (sorry, can't remember who my ultrasound buddy is, but I know I have one!) so don't want to miss them...

Yeah I thought ooh that could be a good job, then they said you needed a science degree so thats out the window then as mine is in design management and I hated biology :rotfl:

    Glad youre all good MV.

Yes they need to farm that guy out for training courses or something, he had such a good attitude, and he was a MAN :rotfl:

Now I just make a bit of a joke of it and say 'time to sperminate me!'. Its never spontaneous now as I have to put the conceive plus in fifteen mins before. Plus lying with your legs in the air for ten mins afterwards is never the best of looks....

:rotfl:I might have to try that one tonight! Managed to make it seem spontaneous last night but I've got no chance tonight because 2 days in a row is unheard of :p Expecting to OV tomorrow though hopefully so could do with another BD to be in with a chance.

Ok. Wandering around the baby department then buying an adorable baby outfit to send to someone else has made me sad.

Hugs code! I saw my 9 month old cousin a couple of weeks ago and last week visited my friend and her 3 week old baby, it's getting harder all the time. Although it took her 8 months to get pg and we're only on month 4 so I shouldn't really be jealous. I'm in awe of those of you that have been trying much longer and those who have lost babies, you are all so strong even if you dont feel like it sometimes!

Did any of you watch the programme on bbc4 last night called the Baby Makers?

I didn't see this but will try and get it on catchup. If anybody else is interested I think it is repeated on BBC HD tomorrow night.

Thanks Claire. Been trying properly since October, but NTNP since April. My cycles average at around 32 days. Through OPKs and temping, I have ovulated each month (since October) but don't ovulate until CD25 (CD27 this month) so only have a 7 day LP.

I'm going to make some changes this month. DH and I have started taking pregnacare conception and I've got some evening primrose. Need to read up on when to take them though.

    Feeling thoroughly peed off :o

I'm really sorry to read about your miscarriage. Have you had af since? Hopefully she will arrive soon for you xx
