I think Eastenders are good to have this story line, even if it saves one child from abuse in real life. They have dealt with this issue with the help of NSPCC and Childline. Eastenders are very brave in doing this and it will help people to see the danger signs.
  • she (sophie) is emma thompson's sister yes. she's been in some jane austen films (in the 90's) and was fab in those too.

i didn't see the episode about the hearing aid! poor ben! (i know it's not real but i feel so sorry for him :o )

I've only just got into watching Eastenders recently. I think it's a really great storyline and hopefully it will highlight some of the issues to people.

The actress was in Four Weddings and a Funeral too. She played the female of the hippy couple who kept singing and playing the guitar.

I think the story line is laughable. Please do not get me r=wrong child abuse is extremely serious. But Eastenders come on. It has to dig deeper and deeper every week to find new story lines. I feel like it is becoming more and mpre random. I would give anything to see just one family in that suare live a happy life..whatever that may be.

I can't stand Ben but it is strange seeing the abuse being different to the normal violent type. She is coming across so nice, which is rather intriguing but scary.

Remember he was nasty to Stella first, she did try and be nice.

  • i don't think this one is random although there are other storylines than bore me and i haven't watched much recently. this is quite plausible. ben's mum died and he hasn't lived with his dad for very long. he's quite withdrawn and quiet and doesn't fit in with his peers, and hasn't known them for long enough to have a real support network.

stella was odd when phil first met her, she seemed a bit unstable. yes ben bullied her to begin with but after a brief split phil and stella got back together and she moved in, so ben knows now that stella is important to his dad and that he won't be taken seriously if he tries to split them up again. the only people he can turn to are his dad or gran, who won't believe him or his bother ian who hates phil and it would all end in tears, possibly with ian's access to ben removed after a huge public row in the pub.

i think being so evil to ben fits with stella's character, she was never quite right to begin with (trying not to say anything that might upset mentally ill people here, and failing spectacularly!).

i can't believe i've written all of this about a soap opera i barely watch! i'm so ashamed :rotfl:

I agree, its a good storyline, and as far I can see/remember, I dont think child abuse has been covered before (do correct me If Im wrong)

Cant wait for it to end though. She gives me the creeps!

OH dear. Poor old Sophie Thompson, reduced to acting in soap operas. Their mum is an actress too. What a talented bunch.
