What a lovely thing to say Bast, thank you. I was feeling really sorry for myself until I read Piq's post today and it is so uplifting!

I am about to have a long soak in the bath, think I have been overdoing the yoga lol. I will be doing the splits in no time at this rate!

Hello Diary and MSE Friends, :hello:

Opened the door to a beautiful morning today, but alas the weather forecast was not wrong - wind, clouds and rain arrived before noon. It's an excuse for avoiding the never-ending weeding yet again. Oh well, there's plenty to do indoors (PPI, bank stuff and paperwork mountain :o).

We have our up`s and down`s like all couples but after 26 years, we know each other well!! He was my first boyfriend at the age of 8 lol He has a serious illness so puts a lot of things into prospective you understand what is important and what is not. Plus living on a boat there is not many places to go after a row...

You and OH must indeed be very compatible - how wonderful to have gone through so much of your lives together. :) Sorry to hear OH does not enjoy good health; you're right, that does affect one's perspective - hopefully as a positive - not worth arguing about the small stuff.

That's a shame - hope OH looks after you [plenty of hot toddies and TLC] and you soon start to feel better. Oh - do you have to go to work today?

if you want to prevent the Rescue Robin gang descending upon you without prior warning you would be well advised to check in and reassure us that you are ok lol. For me it's the fact that you are quite isolated there which makes me feel so protective of you.

Ok, fair point. Am aware that my closest permanent neighbour is nearly a kilometre away so tend to take fewer risks these days - the steep parts of the garden are growing wild as a stumble on one of those narrow paths would result in broken bones. At the moment these areas are covered in tiny mauve flowers, they look something like a campion - gorgeous. :) Later the attention of a goat or a strimmer will be required; am not keen on goats so have already told DS2 I'll pay him to clear it (before the weeds bolt and then dry out - which is a distinct summer fire-risk).

I was fascinated to read that you have your very own borehole - wow - was it there when you bought the property or did PC organize it? Was he a geologist or an engineer? It must be quite deep to tap into the aquifer. Imagine, pure spring water to drink at will.......bliss? Do you use it for bathing as well or is there mains water as well?

Took us a decade to find somewhere where we could have our own, unadulterated water supply (after discovering the adverse effects that drinking tap water has on ME people).
On announcing our desire to dig a well, we had a visit from a wizened ancient. While he was being reverently decanted from Neighbour's car, it was explained that the old fellow was a Dowser. Essential for finding the best place to dig, Neighbour told me in a whisper as he encouraged me to place a silver coin in Dowser's hand.. Thinking that maybe the old chap had cash worries and Neighbour was cunningly supplementing his pension at the expense of the stupid foreigners, I tried to give him a note instead. But this was smilingly rejected; it must be a silver coin. Fine. We went along with the magic. :)
The old man walked slowly all over our land, holding a twisted stick out in front of him with both hands. Then the drilling rig was placed above the spot he indicated and after inflicting an unholy racket on the whole area for a day and a half, during which the rig spat clouds of pulverised rock over everything - finally a fountain of clear sparkling water erupted!
The well is 240 metres deep [I think], and yes, that water is used for everything now the lab has confirmed it is safe to drink (no mains water available in the campo).

Well we were due to see the grandkids today but our plans have had to be abandoned as the other grandparents (and great grandparents) have rather monopolised them this weekend and they are not home yet, and we are taking MIL home now. Hey ho, am disappointed but am also glad that they have such loving grandparents who will provide them with a real support network when they are older and inevitably fall out with their parents.

Oh dear, I'm sorry you missed out on seeing your little ones last weekend, but you're right; the more folk they have looking out for them the better.. Next time it will be your turn. :)
I didn't see mine either; DGD went to a safari park [late birthday treat], and I was in town when DS brought DGS to visit after play-group (DS1 is not very good about letting me know his plans - made me laugh as he said with indignation "But you never go out!" when he 'phoned up while they were standing on the patio, looking at my locked front door :o).

Dot congratulations on your good news - lovely to have another DGC to look forward to. Very best wishes to Mum-to-be for a healthy, uneventful pregnancy. :)

Oh Wow, Robin, a real life dowser. I thought they were a myth! Isn't nature absolutely amazing.

Lucky's right, you really do sound more upbeat than you have for a while which is lovey to read. Aren't we all lucky to have found each other.

Ah yes, another grandchild on the way, I am so very blessed. Thank you for your congratulations. Middle age certainly does bring it's own compensations, doesn't it?

Aaargh - massive fail! Closest I got to the paperwork was walking past it where it lay on the kitchen table.. :(

Ended up musing in the garden, between showers. Picked dinner; aubergine, broccoli and lettuce. Yummy with left-over cheese sauce and a few tomatoes (not from garden). Big bowl of strawberries for pud. :)

Be Lucky I need to join in with the weight-loss quest.. :o

So did I! Interestingly, PC had consulted the local military geological charts, and from those he suggested a three metre circle which was pretty much centred on the spot chosen by Dowser. So science concurred with magic. :)

Thank you, do try.. :p And yes we are lucky to have found each other, aren't we. :)
Umm, do you by chance have any vacancies for another personal weight-loss trainee? Don't expect me to do much jiggling about though.. :o

Am having a thoughtful blue evening, just for a change. :)
  • You are more than welcome to join me on the weight loss journey. Bit of a trek for you to come to the gym with me 3 times a week though :D! Fresh veggies from the garden sound good!

Loving the blue! Hoping it's not a reflection of a blue mood though!! Xx
