You are very restrained re DS2. I hope he doesn't disappoint.

    Mmm, me too..
 to 9 year olds making 8 hour coach trips alone  Xx

Unbelievable suggestion, isn't it Lucky? Apart from obvious dangers, the poor child would be exhausted all weekend! :(

Thanks for asking still feeling much more positive now that I know there is an end in sight. Still haven't heard from the hospital though which is a bit frustrating but B said to get back in touch with them if nothing within 2 weeks. Been just over a week now. So glad it's the weekend soon, I'm living for them at the moment and going to take it easy again with FMTs interspersed throughout.

It's good to see you are much more positive now, Granny; one way or the other you'll soon be recovering from your op (((hugs))). :)

Think you did very well to keep your calm with DS, really does sound like GF is ruling the relationship and at cost to others

It's really difficult getting them to see the error of their ways and how it can't all be so one sided. I know because my DS is often the same

Very good point. Must keep that in mind - thank you Granny. :)

Oh my. DS2 is not making some clear decisions with every one else in mind here is he! But flipping heck that has been dining some serious alarm bells going on for me. Do hope you can have a conversation with him. And soon. For everyone's sake. She might make him happy but sounds so controlling then how happy will he be? And she isn't that good with DGD if she thinks an 8 hour trip is ok. Just my outspoken opinion there
Best of luck with that one!

Your honest opinion is most welcome, Missrlr. :)
Have noticed; a few times when DGD has been staying with DS & GF, all is great to start with, but then GF announces she isn't feeling well - which means whatever activity was planned gets cancelled.

GF's MH issues appear so much better recently, but she does like to be the centre of her little world. It's as if she has a blind spot somehow; very loving and caring with DGD, but has difficulty coping for long when she is not the focus of DS' attention.

She justified the bus journey being ok by saying it is non-stop (but they still call at service stations).

Am waiting to see how GF gets on with her new job - don't want to make waves if that all falls apart and she comes back next week..

    Hello World, :)

Apologies to Sun.A and Amber - fell asleep before replying to your posts the other night. :o

No news from DS2 & GF..
(A tad worrying; should have heard how Sparky is getting on by now..).

Weather here has outdone itself; we've had blizzards, thunderstorms, gale force winds and flash-flood (pretty much all at once).

Yesterday the big yellow ball returned, playing hide&seek with racing black clouds - saw four rainbows during the day [:D], while helping DS4 move Big Bananas to a more sheltered spot (wind was ripping away leaves as they unfurled, such a shame - a very satisfying although tricky task to shift a trio of linked two-metre-tall stems down a narrow rocky path in a wheelbarrow).

Mountains are breath-takingly beautiful, tops drenched in deep sparkling snow. Closer to the Nest, almond trees have started to flower - lovely delicate pink and white petals which are being blown off soon after opening, hopefully not before the bees find 'em or it will be a bad year for nuts.

Still pushing our two elephants around the room; TR making slow progress, HP changed direction (cheaper flat, worse area but plus points are affordability, and DS will not have to share except with CD & self at times).

Spent £90 on groceries, 'phone creds, and small load of firewood.

Thinking of all MSE friends; apologies for not keeping up with your diaries atm (cyber-time limited until TR has been [STRIKE]dealt with[/STRIKE] evicted!). :cool2:
  • I have subscribed after bumping into you around the place. Thats a lot of weather and confusion for the garden!

    Hiya Robin

Sorry the elephant is still there. But you are making progress. Keep going you will get there!

Do remember the old adage location location location re the HP .....

Hope it all keeps moving forward for you

We are finally getting the windows sorted tomorrow so hopefully then we progress to water tightness. There has been progress at the back too, but this has to be much slower. Neighbours have started remedial building works to stop the floods. House at back still not dry so nothing more we can do on that score ..... Time will tell.

Hello Diary and MSE Friends, :hello:

Welcome to the Nest, SbO, thank you for popping in - we have HM bakewell tart today to go with our cuppa, so pull up a chair and grab a plate! :D

..Plan is to visit DS2 today. See what's going on - or not.

Pile One has been sorted - can't believe how small my actual income looks when set down on paper, and yet it feels like CD and I are living very well. Maybe low expectations is the key? :)

One slightly alarming realisation: Last year's ISA with FD has disappeared off my internet banking page!

True. But think we've got to the bottom of my reluctance to move forward - am absolutely terrified of taking on another mortgage!
However looking at the problem from a different angle: What we actually need is somewhere secure for DS4 to live in. It would be potential lodgers who'd be attracted by a city-centre location (requiring borrowing to purchase).
Divo Four is fit and physically active, and has decided he's quite happy to cycle into town from the suburbs if it means he doesn't have to share with other students.
The area we're looking at now is close to the river so there's a lovely cycle path avoiding the heaviest traffic, and water meadows for walks with CD when she and I are staying there - do need another UK base.

Good, am glad matters are moving for you - hope you've got a dry, warm[ish] day for removing the old windows! :)

Looking at Pile Two: THEM. Been making monthly repayments on an old debt for ages; trying to work out how much - if anything - is still owed.
Have a vague memory of paying off a chunk - at the same time as NewLeaf** was agonising over her situation with THEM - but [STRIKE]can't find[/STRIKE] haven't yet found m' notes made at the time, or a record of the card / 'phone transaction on any bank details (but there are a few 'personal' statements still missing/misplaced).

Hoping I'd noted the payment here, so at least could find the right date - which has led to re-reading early entries. Emotional to see the changes a year has wrought.

    ..No success thus far.

If all else fails suppose must 'phone THEM - but will feel pretty stupid if I have to ask for the details!
Assuming memory isn't playing up, then think m' debt may have been paid off a couple of months ago so this needs sorting pronto - because the monthly payment is still going out! :o

** Do hope NewLeaf is ok, and Dorothy52 - can't help worrying when someone suddenly stops posting after apparently enjoying being part of the MSE community.

Hmmph. Just realised CC 0% deal expired this month - shifted to one of the empty ones, can now forget about that for fifteen months.

    Fed up with numbers.

Going to take CD and DS4 for a walk on the beach, maybe late lunch / dinner out too - DS is leaving very soon; will miss him so much.
