Hello Diary and Dear Friends, :hello:
Sammr, thanks for de-lurking and welcome to Flying Solo! Have pm'd you about your kind offer. :Tplease-let-me-be-lucky wrote: »Cooooooeeeee!!! Anyone home? Xx
Hi Lucky, yes we're here.
Somewhat shaken [literally, this morning] by the Mayor's road-mending team who were thundering up and down the track well before 7am today!
Honestly, I thought a military helicopter was landing in the garden; dogs had vanished, ornaments juddered off shelves as a visceral thudding roared..
So much for sleep (two hours ).
Been having a bit of trouble with getting enough rest lately; can't seem to break the cycle of three hours up, three hours flat.
Of course new parents survive this, but I'm struggling.
Thinking of trying 5HTP to boost serotonin production and fool m'brain into deep sleep, but will ask El Medico's opinion first as it's not a supplement that should be taken without caution (but hopefully better than side-effects from sleeping pills!).
Meanwhile such energy as I've had, has been spent on looking on-line at property for sale and fighting Paperwork Mountain which appears to be multiplying by itself.
It's been a spendy time too; obviously DS4 needs a short-term rental until we can find him an acceptable, affordable flat. Setting that up has hurt - a four figure sum which has gone forever into another landlord's pocket, no longer available to invest.
Best flat for sale found in my most recent search yesterday, is on 70% shared ownership - so must find out more about pros and cons of that scheme. This flat will probably be gone by the time I've worked out whether or not it's feasible, but the knowledge will be useful for next week's search.
Property seems to be selling really fast in the city, but at least new possibilities are coming on the market every time I check RM.
More finances; due to brain fog I forgot to 'phone FD when my regular savings a/c closed, so have incurred four days' OD charges on £250.
Is it worth starting an ISA for a few weeks?
..Calling FD is on today's list.
Other news: Divo Two and GF are going to spend the weekend at PC's cottages, so I'd better make sure they've got clean bedding and find the energy to get into town, so that we can share Sunday lunch.
 Need a shopping list - back to every penny counting if Plan F is to have any chance of becoming reality.HeadAboveWater wrote:Ummmm... here goes...
The original photos need to be uploaded to an online album somewhere.
HAW - this is where I get stuck.
Thanks very much for the instructions; am going to have to come back to learning this later when brain is working better - or possibly ask DS2 to set it up for his stupid ol' Mum? Give him something to do besides sleep while I'm cooking his lunch and GF is grooming Daft Dogs. :rotfl:
Sorry haven't visited many diaries recently - hope life is treating you all kindly at the moment, dear friends. :lovethoug0 -
Thanks for the update and glad you're ok RobinHAW - this is where I get stuck.
Ok... Ummmm..... Well I'll make an attempt at least! I'll PM the details shortly and you can just try it when you're feeling up to it (or leave it to DS)
How'd you end up with OD charges on FD when the Regular Saver closed? Did they transfer the money to your e-Saver or something ok?Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
How quickly life can change.
Managed a three hour siesta after posting earlier, then the sound of madly scrabbling paws clicking on the tiled floor brought conciousness rushing back..
Dear Fat Dog was fighting to get unruly legs beneath her, panting and drooling, eyes flickering rapidly from left to right.
Stroke?
..Got her wet jacket on which seemed to help instantly, then she staggered around for a while before I was able to persuade her to lie on her bed.
Had to call on the friend network; a young man I'd never met before [mate of DS3 who was visiting Ex] came and helped us get to the vet. Can't carry a 20kg dog m'self, and very much doubt she would have made it down the steps under her own steam.
After two hours, lots of attention from two vets and several tests, I reluctantly had to accept their advice and leave poor Fat Dog in hospital on a drip tonight.
Tomorrow we should know whether it was a stroke, heart attack, or some type of fit caused by a tumour. And thence what prognosis she has.
Clever Dog hasn't moved from my side since we got home. Feels very strange not to have FD nudging my hand for a cuddle every time she walks past my chair.
Keeping digits crossed and trying to stay positive - know how much difference decent hydration can make, and the drugs Dear Vet has given her should hopefully at least make FD more comfortable by tomorrow.HeadAboveWater wrote: »How'd you end up with OD charges on FD when the Regular Saver closed? HAW I failed to set up a DD to shift the £300 regular saving into the right a/c. This is the first month I've forgotten to do it manually in time.
Still haven't 'phoned bank - dog emergency rather got in the way.
Thanks for the detailed instructions re 'photos; yes Linux (an Irish version). Will have a go when more brain cells are functioning - don't hold your breath though, lol.
Bed time folks; night night.0 -
