Hello Diary and Dear, Kind MSE Friends, :hello:
Thank you everyone for your comments and kind thoughts. :T
Apologies for long silence; the bubble is a very detached, otherworldly place. :A
Wrote a long post yesterday which vanished thanks to the Token-Expired Fairy; didn't have enough ooomph to write it out again.
Long story short; Little Girl did improve somewhat as a result of Vet's intensive treatment, but she was still very incapacitated (and refusing food after Saturday night).
Didn't take her back to the clinic on Tuesday; instead had a 'phone consultation with Boss Vet, Dear Vet and Nurse, which resulted in Boss Vet coming to us at 10pm (after he'd finished an emergency op).
I held Little Girl in my arms, telling her how much we all loved her while BV released her spirit..
Clever Dog was lying next to us on the patio dog-bed. At the very moment BV did what he had to, CD rose to her feet and barked - six times. When she stopped, the bubble was gone from around us; Little Girl had left our world.
DS2 was here too; came out to prepare a place next to Blind Dog and PC's Dog, where we buried Little Girl by Moon and torch-light. (Well, I held the torch while DS2 did the work).
(Short pause - light an incense stick for Little Girl while calling up a happy memory of her youth).
Divo Two couldn't stay overnight because he was worried about GF (at my request she stayed in the city - thought it would be too upsetting all round for her to see Little Girl so sick and broken. GF loves animals and is already very fond of Daft Dogs).
DS2 has given me the translation of GF's diagnosis. Oh dear; one of the most complex and difficult to treat of all MH problems.
After a few hours spent reading nursing manuals, it's clear that some patients can be helped but most do not get access to a full team of experts (those tend to have a less positive outcome).
Am now right behind the idea of GF needing long-term attention from an experienced Psychologist in order to have a good chance of improving her prospects.
The Psychiatrist's pills are only treating a co-morbidity which accompanies the main diagnosis - not touching the core problem.
Interestingly, I found several references mentioning a particular - very simple - Buddhist meditation; used by Psychologists to teach such patients a coping technique for times when they feel themselves on the brink of the abyss.
Discussed this with DS2, and suggested a couple of things for him and GF to read together.
Am in absolutely no doubt that such knowledge of MH issues which I've gleaned over the years, is woefully inadequate for helping GF.
But honestly don't think suggesting she should learn this technique will do any harm - I use it myself, have done for so long I don't even think of it when I do it; has become a natural [pretty effective] response to stress.
Meanwhile Divo Four has found a flat which would be perfect, were it 50K cheaper.
Obviously need to raise some cash (beyond capacity of CCs - not a great idea anyway). A very kind gent on the house selling/renting board made a suggestion, using the assets I already have, which might do the trick; something I'd thought wasn't possible - will try and get around to researching that today.
Finances: 'Phone-banking done, just have to transfer last year's ISA to get a better rate at the other bank.
Vet's total bill was £200, also gave DS2 £60 for petrol and a little treat to share with GF (in thanks for acceding to my wishes).
Did not spend anything during last week's trips to town, apart from pressing a tenner on young Galahad so that he could get some shopping, while he was helping on our first emergency run to the vet. Bless the lad, he was very reluctant to accept anything - even though we'd never met before and he'd given up the best part of a day of his holiday.. :T
There is some good news too: While at the clinic CD's overdue blood tests were finally done, and they've come back clear - her treatment worked! :j
CD will still have to be monitored regularly from now on, but DV thinks we caught it in time.
Am very grateful; honestly had enough of the Lesson of Loss for now, and hope I'll be able to enjoy CD's companionship for a few more years.. At the moment she's not letting me out of her sight. :heart2: :cool2:0 -

That is so sad Robin, RIP Little girl.
Big hugs for you and CD. I agree, you have had more than your fair share of the lessons on loss recently, and I have everything crossed that you have no more in the near future. XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Aw I'm so, so sorry to hear about Little Girl
*big hug*
But really pleased that Clever Dog has been given the all clear! :j Is she not letting you outta her sight, or is it you're not letting her outta your sight!?Maybe a bit of both! Either way, I'm glad you can be there for each other
Although it appears to be a very complicated diagnosis for GF, at least there is a diagnosis. It usually helps to know what you're dealing with. I sincerely hope she gets all the help and support she needs. There is def no harm in teaching her the meditation technique. Anything to help her cope is good.
*hugs* again.Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
