Is TalkTalk my only internet option?

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4992 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 41 db 13 db
Noise Margin 6 db 27 db
For the router stats, although not sure what the latter two really mean...
They live in a village so I'd imagine the line would be pretty long.
One more question, what do you all think of their Plus service with the YouView box? Would mean they would get rid of sky multiroom which would save a tenner a month, although I guess if it's £10 more than the Essentials then that makes it pretty null and void...
Based on a ds attentuation of 43db (it usually increases by a few db when going from ADSL>ADSL2+), your modem should sync at around 8 meg on TalkTalk LLU, so yes you're pretty much guaranteed higher speeds.
No idea about getting Sky on YouView but you do NOT have to pay their advertised prices for their Plus package. A few weeks ago i got their Plus packagae for £5.25 pm on a new 12 month contract (+£9.50) line rental.0 -

You have the choice of dozens of non-LLU providers, but none will be as cheap as TT LLU. You get what you pay for.
And all other BTw based ISPs will not offer anything above 5 meg to the OP, whereas Talktalk LLU can potentially offer 8 meg so its a no brainer. For what talktalk offer, its an absolute bargain. Line speeds 24/7, low pings, fastpath profile if req'd, can use own router, no throttling except P2P and [STRIKE]horrible[/STRIKE] excellent support via the [STRIKE]phone[/STRIKE] forums.0 -

If you plug your router into Talktalk's MSAN at your exchange , your router will sync at the full 24 meg with actual speeds >20 meg. That's guaranteed
It only changed when talktalk took over before talktalk there were no problems to speak of. The main problem though was their customer service or lack of it.0 -

Kegworth is the exchange0 -
.......and it's still a Market 1:mad:
Is there any way you can check how many exchanges have not been upgraded by Ofcom?
Ofcom does not upgrade any exchanges. It's up to the ISP's such as TT as to whether they want to make the capital investment to put their LLU equipment into an exchange. There are thousands of small and/or rural exchanges (around 4,000?) which simply wouldn't be worth upgrading, because the customer base may be only a few hundred, and the market share of that for the ISP might only be a few dozen. Such exchanges will never be LLU'd under the current system.
With 2,300 potential subscribers, an exchange like Kegworth is probably just about profitable with a single LLU provider. TT got there first.
NB: the classification will in due course be changed to Market 2-good for Plusnet susbscribers. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
"NB: the classification will in due course be changed to Market 2-good for Plusnet susbscribers."
True, but only if Plusnet are advised of the LLU competition when calling them about what they can offer. Otherwise they will work on the exchange being Market 1 until it's changed to Market 2 - whenever that might happen, due course could be a very long time?!
When I contacted them, as a longstanding Madasafish customer, asking what they could do for me, the answer was more or less nothing special until it was pointed out that they had LLU competition (TalkTalk only) at my exchange (1800 subscribers) - then it all changed rapidly! There was a miraculous and substantial price drop and a "slagging off" of TalkTalk.0 -

Sorry for 'upgrade' I meant 're-classified'
How long do you think 'In due course' will be? Samknows told me Ofcom have not changed any classifications for over three years.
The number of exchanges that need to be re-classified must run into hundreds. So that's thousands of Plusnet subscribers that are being overcharged!
Nobody seems to be doing anything about it. Perhaps all Plusnet customers in those exchanges have plenty of money!0
