Is it acceptable to be sworn at by a supervisor?

You will already know all the trials and tribulations of my job from previous posts but things just seem to go from bad to worse and I am just feeling hopelessly trapped.

I had to drag myself into work this morning as was having a bad does of the Monday blues but I went in. I wasn't the only one having a bad day the supervisor was making smart remarks all morning looking for a response and I eventually took the bate.

He kept asking had I certain things done yet, I raised my voice which I probably shouldn't off but the conversation went like this.

***Have you that done yet
***Yes its done
***What
***Its done

At this point he must of thought I said something else but he squared up to me and his face went red, I backed down and as he walked away he called me a f**king b**tard.

I was so angry and being the new guy have no support, I really can't be bothered with !!!!! like this anymore and as I say things are going from bad to worse, because I've backed down on this occasion he will think he can bully me, how do I play this?

That's not acceptable behaviour in anyone's books. As a supervisor he should be leading by example. I haven't read your other posts but is there someone higher than him you can go to to lodge a formal complaint?

I know it's not helpful but I hope you're looking for somewhere else while you're working there.

One bad day does not make a pattern and anything other than ignoring it may make things worse. Didn't you say you only need the job a few more weeks? In which case, I'd recommend water and duck's back as the approach.

The boss, and that's the behaviour he also displays which is probably why this guy thinks this is acceptable, I could complain but I'd then be seen as the outcast, I've only been there 4/5 months, the supervisor has been their 10 years which is why I feel trapped.

Yes I am looking elsewhere, I had been since I started but its so damn hard to find anything to apply for let alone get an interview.

Stop being so angry and go in with a smile tomorrow. Honestly, you are going to get nowhere with this and as you say, you are the new guy.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

Hmm I sympathise with you then. I feel your pain on the job search too :(

But as the other poster said, it may just be best to keep your head down. Don't rise to the bait (i know easier said than done) and when you get home take the anger out on a pillow or something.

Oops sorry -cross posted. You know what it is like and I've read most of your posts since you started. I'd still say, given your circumstances, to keep your head down. It'll be you who ends up sacked and sanctioned. I don't think it's right but sometimes things are what they are, and if you need the money...

Sadly I think that's the only option I have.
