You can make dahl with yellow split peas. They are not commonly used in India, but they are by the Indian communities in Guyana and Trinidad.

I do a houmous type dip, so cook them till soft and blend with olive oil, garlic and cumin seeds. I eat it with bread.

Yellow split peas make great soup - onion, stock and split peas cooked then blitzed with a hand blender, with the juice of a lemon added. Simple and delicious!
