We won £25 on premium bonds this week so that can now go towards a big spend yesterday, haha.  Mostly in budget but there were some items we needed for the house and we also bought birthday presents while we spotted suitable items.

Just checked bank accounts and we're just about keeping to budgets and hope that continues through March.  Yesterday's big monthly shop was ten per cent more expensive than last month for pretty much the same items.  Shocking.

Quite a positive week.  Still keeping to budgets and found out that my pay will increase in April.  Managed to get our broadband deal down by £200 per year this morning so hopefully that will offset some of the other rises a bit.

Normal budgets still intact, just, with a week to go and I've changed our mobile sims and so far the swap has gone well.  Just waiting for DHs number to transfer over.

This week was optician time for both of us though so we're now over £600 lighter.  I'm at least claiming my eye test back from work. I haven't done that before.  I was shocked at the price of varifocals so am still going to have my three separate pairs of glasses.  Three pairs normal worked out cheaper than one pair of varifocals and I would still have had to get prescription sunglasses for driving.  Enough waffling.

Work have said that we're getting a cost of living payment next week so that is good news.

We are going out and about this weekend but will be frugal.  Maybe a trip to the coast for fish and chips, and also the cinema.  We have a voucher to use for that.

We had our weekend out and about and it was very frugal.  I need to get a proper handle on April budget though. Will take a look at that again this morning.

Another big spend, new car seat for the grand babies but I've got it on pay later and will keep the money in my savings account earning interest until it's due.

Our solar panels should be connected today so hopefully we'll see a reduction in our bills.

Bank accounts checked, everything for April looks ok.  Why do I still panic about finances? I think it must be a throwback to when we had £50k debt, sleepless nights and counted every penny going around the supermarket.  Even though we now have no debt and a savings cushion, that awful feeling never seems to truly go away.

Well the solar panels have had an instant effect.  Our smart meter is only showing about 60% of our usual usage.

We've had a lovely frugal weekend including a family Easter party hosted by DD.  Lots of catching up and playing silly games and that was just the adults.  The children had lots of fun too.

I have however bought some hair dye after seeing some of the photos of the day.  It seems I'm not growing old gracefully, just growing old.  I've had some minor surgery for a growth on my neck though, so I'll need to wait another day before using the dye.

oh, and I've bought a lovely secondhand slide for the toddlers to play on in the garden.  Only £15.
