I'm still trying to sort the gas issue which has been rumbling since the last week of October. Utility companies are generally rubbish in my opinion.
In other news DH now has a permanent part time job so we've been able to prep our budget for next year.Things will still be tight but we're not having to work full time and there may be enough funds for a short break.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Morning diary.I caught DH looking at the budget book when I came downstairs this morning so finally I think he's fully on board with everything!
I got a terrific bargain yesterday. A child's toy in perfect condition which retails at £70 for £5.
It's got me thinking that I might try to do all Xmas presents second hand next year where possible. We haven't gone mad this year anyway and now our off spring are also on board with buying used items first, it kind of makes sense and will be a challenge.
Today I should only need to spend £2 on my exercise class.
But first, off to send an email to try to resolve the gas issue.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Five sleeps till Xmas, well six for us as we're doing Xmas on Boxing Day, and still within our budget.
In super duper news I have won £100 @mazon voucher in a competition so that will be useful for anything from there next year. Doesn't expire for ten years anyway!
I have not been well for the past week so some plans had to be cancelled so a little savings there too, although I'd rather just be well.Spend less now, work less later.0 -

Morning diary.
Sarah - my DH said to buy something for myself but there's not really anything I want or need and I'm almost seeing a challenge in how long I can go without spending the voucher.
Back to paid stuff today and when that's out of the way I need to compose another email to sort out the gas issue as they're still being obstructive and wriggling and I want my money back.
DH is doing the last of the Xmas food shopping today. I think the budget may be stretched!Spend less now, work less later.0 -
The budget was stretched a little but nothing that can't be adjusted and well, it is Christmas.
Happy Christmas to anyone who reads along.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Well done on the win 👏
I think most people end up buying a bit more than they planned at Christmas. It’s easy to get caught up with the festive feeling.Happy Christmas Jazee 🎄I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1 -
Ok, so wages in accounts today including DHs salary which is the first monthly pay in two and a half years. The budget for January is looking good after making adjustments for the slight Xmas overspend. DH has done a top up shop this morning and has just gone out to fill up the car but I'm not currently planning any other spends and I'm doing the buy nothing new in January' challenge.Spend less now, work less later.0

I've just realised I've made an error in January budget. I was thinking that DH gets paid on the last Friday of every month as I do but it's actually the last working day of each month. This means there is another weekly shop to fit in. I've done some juggling and it's now sorted.Spend less now, work less later.0

Quite a good week except DH keeps stopping off at the shop on his way home from work. He's already used some of this next weeks shopping budget.
I have spent £5 this week on craft group and a coffee morning. I'm getting my hair cut today too.
In good news, I won £50 on the premium bonds, a good start to the year.Spend less now, work less later.1
