Almost another week has gone by and pay day has come round again. Finances looking ok but June/July are busy months with birthdays and holidays so I don't expect to be adding anything to our savings pot. I'm hoping not to have to take anything out of it either!
Its pouring with rain here today so this morning will be indoor jobs and this afternoon an indoor activity in the village.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Another two weeks has sped by. Pay day this week, still haven't touched the savings and hoping to keep it that way.
This week should be low spend as I'm away with the paid stuff for a couple of days, and our date night this week is with tickets purchased months ago.
Today I have been pottering in the house and the garden, and walked the dogs between showers.
Just having an early lunch of a smoked salmon and cucumber sandwich. Brings back memories of my days as a 16 year old office junior being allowed into the MDs office at Christmas to eat some. I'd never come across smoked salmon before, was well out of reach of my parent's budget. I always thought I'd know I'd made it in life when I could afford smoked salmon as a regular thing!! Haha, have eight packs in the freezer.
I hope anyone reading is having a great day.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Another two week gap between posts and it's because I'm annoyed with some of my spending but probably coming on here would actually make me keep it in check.
So pay day has been and gone. Savings have been raided for a charity donation. A new dress (THE perfect black one) has been purchased, oh and a new saucepan in a size I really needed but haven't actually used yet.
This is an expensive month for us, birthdays and holiday. I'm hoping not to have to raid the savings further though and I have some shares I'm getting a dividend for in August which should actually push our savings up to the next milestone (£3k).
So I must:
Keep away from the savings
Meal plan properly and keep to it
Shop according to a list in the village and not get things ad hoc
Resist all temptation to buy from brochures put through the door
Relax, enjoy my holiday and realise that this is the kind of thing savings ARE for.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Ok, so more than two weeks since I posted and I've done the last thing on my list above, which means that savings are at their minimum level of £1k but we've had a brilliant time on holiday and with birthdays etc.
We have also planned a weekend away late in August and that is what savings are for, those little extras.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Hello MSE diary. I have nine days now to do as pretty much as I please. So this morning I've made my nails look nice.
MSE wise - all looking good. Both DH and I have been paid, savings are looking respectable, and I got a bonus which was £400 more than I expected so next year's holiday is paid for.
I am planning to do a biggish shop today/tomorrow once I've done a freezer inventory (need to defrost two of them) and a meal plan. The only other spending I've immediately planned is some new bedding (essential) and getting my hair cut (budgeted for).
Other MSE news:
Gas/electric payments cut from £82 to £61 per month (I think this is because DD has left home)
Booked tickets for four shows over the autumn - with discounts only cost £82 in total and gives us something to look forward to when the nights draw in.
Righto, better crack on. Slowly of course, I am on holiday albeit at home!Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Ok so I made an unplanned purchase yesterday of a new parasol for the garden. It had been in the back of my mind to get one, then the sun came out so I did.
Big shop done, just over £110, some I got in h0mebargains, the rest will be delivered by Mr T on Monday. Hopefully, this will last about 2-3 months.
Today should be a NSD as I have a free day out planned. Well part day. I also need to try to do some jobs round the house and garden today.
Must make my hair appointment tomorrow.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Only spent £2.15 yesterday and that was what DH spent on lunch at work because he didn't have a packed lunch. Two reasons - one, I am on holiday and two - it doesn't always get eaten anyway.
I have been told about a new charity shop - everything £1 - so I am planning a peruse around there today but will only take a certain amount of cash to limit myself.
Need to look online for cheapest place to park.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
So I found a long stay car park, only £1.20 and had my peruse around the charity shop(s) yesterday. Spent £12.47 and for that I got a pair of trousers, two pairs of shorts, three skirts and a top. One pair of shorts I'm now not so keen on, they don't look good on me, so they can go in a charity bag which is being collected tomorrow.
I also spent £30 getting my hair cut (included a miserly tip) and £1.85 on a cabbage and three peppers. Oh, and £3.85 for a massive slice of Victoria sponge and a pot of tea in a cute little tea shop - a real treat for me.
Today will be a low spend day for me. I'm going for another lovely organised walk from a village I've never been to before. I may spend if the village has any little shops to look around. Other than that, I only plan to buy a pot of natural yoghurt.
I hope anyone reading has a great day.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Yesterday was low spend as planned (apart from going out for a meal with DH in the evening). I spent £4.80 on lunch after my walk and £1.64 on yoghurt.
Today I have been swimming for the first time properly in about 8 years. I swam 14 lengths but feel good for having done it. Swimming cost £4 and I spent £2.75 on ingredients to make an orange cake for a fundraiser at the weekend.
I'll just potter in the garden and house for the rest of today.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Another day off the paid stuff whizzed by, never goes this quickly there. Anyway, yesterday I had a lovely day on the NE coast with DH, spent a little on small treats, fish and chips and then a takeaway when we got home in the evening.
Today for the first time this week the weather is a little damp so its going to be a day of pottering indoors. So far today I have cake in the oven ready for the fundraiser tomorrow, although they're not looking that great yet.
So today should be a NSD for me unless of course I have to go out and get more cake ingredients! I have to turn up with something tomorrow.Spend less now, work less later.0
