Good afternoon diary. DH and I had a nice evening out yesterday, the show was quite funny and it was nice to get out in the evening. Usually DH is so tired because of 4.30am starts that it's nice he doesn't have to do that over the BH weekend.

Today started with me feeling in a weird kind of mood. I think because I knew I had to cut the grass and I just didn't feel like doing it and also because I spend more time procrastinating than actually doing something about the things I want to do.

However, after a nice breakfast, lovely walk in the sunshine and the dreaded grass cutting out of the way I now feel a lot better especially as DH has brought my piano downstairs so I can practice more often, and that has also freed up more space in the gym so the plan is to exercise more too.

Oh and we have a plan too for the front garden which should remove all areas where the neighbours cats make a mess because clearing up after them makes me fed up too. Just need to get a quote, not very MSE but needs must if I'm to stay sane.

    Onwards and upwards.

Moving the piano downstairs has worked. I have started practicing again and I'm enjoying it. I'm also taking time to read more and switch the TV off. Haven't made it into the revamped gym yet but I do do a lot of walking with the dogs. However, I probably do need to lose a few pounds. When I went to the community hall for craft group I was asked if I was looking for the room for Slimming World, says it all really!

Anyway, DH and I had planned to go to Fountains Abbey on Monday to use our NT membership before it runs out. The membership has been not very MSE for us as we just don't have the time to make the most of it. It is cheaper just to pay for the odd trip out. However, on Monday, halfway up the A1, I realised that I'd left the cards at home, so we had our picnic in Rowntree Park in York instead and very nice it was too. Must try to get to the Abbey before the end of May.

And today, I forgot to set the alarm so started the paid stuff late and harrassed and didn't get half as much done as I'd hoped. There's always tomorrow.

Anyway, need to walk the dogs now, make a quick tea for me and DD, and then bake cakes and cookies for a charity fundraiser.

Oh and today is a NSD even though I've run out of milk.

Hope everyone reading has a great evening.

I've had a horrible week of the paid stuff, so glad its the weekend. I can't see any light at the end of the tunnel there, but on the positive side, the company is doing well, I'm getting a pay rise and a bonus.

Well, another day where the weather has put paid to plans for gardening so I've had a lazy day with DH. I did pop out to the shop for milk and treated myself to an ice cream from the van, so not a NSD.

Just kind of treading water here till payday on Thursday, but overall I would say this has been a good month MSE wise. In other news DS has lost his job, his store suddenly closed down, all he needs when he's only just got engaged. So I think we may need to help him out if he doesn't find another job straight away.

Payday has arrived so I spent time before the paid stuff today sorting out finances for the month and its not looking too bad at all. If necessary we will be able to help DS out a bit but he has three interviews lined up already so hopefully he'll get another job soon and not need our help.

I have put money to one side for spends when we have some leave at the end of the month, and have planned for one of the days out today which is something nice to look forward to. We've decided not to go out for our anniversary at the weekend, we're going to do a fakeaway instead - very MSE!

Morning diary. Well so far this 'month' (2 days since payday), I have spent £10 on phone credit (first top up in 6 weeks), £10 on chicken for tonight's fakeaway (there is enough for two fakeaways) and £20 wasted on snacks and sweets in front of the telly last night - I'll try not to let that happen again.

Well, what a week its been. Started with DS losing his job on Monday, a very stressful week of the paid stuff which has left me absolutely exhausted, an very welcome unexpected visit from an old friend of DD, and yesterday DS phoned to say he has a new job. So happy for him - he approached the competition and they took him on.

And so to today. My list as per flylady thread:

    Clean fridge and meal plan
    Walk dogs
    Do weekly shop
Meet someone to sort out more volunteering
Do big monthly shop (its actually been about 6/7 weeks since last one)
    Walk dogs again

And...relax with DH having fakeaway and watching Eurovision to mark our anniversary. We are fast creeping towards 3 decades.

Hope anyone reading has a brilliant day.

A quick update while risotto cooks. Saturday's big monthly shop was huge and I came in £11 over budget, but actually I blame that on the splurge on sweets on Friday night. I also got my haircut and have set up a two purse rule. One purse has household budget money in it and the other is mine for my treats. I was finding that my treat money was going on milk, bread etc and that's just not on. It's for wine gums.

Diary, I have been a bad girl MSE wise as I have spent the last week off the paid stuff just spending. In my defence, DH and I have had lovely days out, eaten well and bought stuff we had planned to get at some stage anyway. And I'll have squirrelled £10 (every little helps) into the savings just to make me feel better. The splurge is not over yet, we are probably going to treat ourselves to a takeaway tonight and we're going out tomorrow night although the tickets were paid for months ago.

In other news, I have been going in the gym more. One of our purchases was a bigger TV so I can watch exercise DVDs easier. My weight however keeps going up. I am nearly a stone heavier than I was in December.

DH is attempting from today to give up the alcohol again, so I am going to give up sweets. The wine gum purse can be used for other treats.

I hope anyone reading is enjoying today's sunshine.
