So, last night we had a Chinese takeaway which was lovely but will have done nothing for our waistlines. And today, we are back on the MSE wagon after a week of spending money like it is going out of fashion. Today is day 2 of no alcohol for DH and no sweets for me. We have already done the weekly shop, we are eating out of the freezer this week, so the food we did need - fresh veg and milk etc - came in at under £10. Result. It actually feels really good and challenging to be back budgeting properly again. How sad am I?
Just having a quick cuppa then it's time to cut the grass.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
So in the last five days I've had to give in and take £90 from savings as payday is still a week away, but never mind. We had a great week off. DH gave in before me and had wine yesterday, I am on day 7 of no sweets. In positive news, my shares are doing well and I think I may cash some in around August time - we will see, the front garden is looking fab and the cats are now leaving it alone, and I have changed my evening routine to make time for piano practice each night.
Still going in the gym, weight NOT coming off:oSpend less now, work less later.0 -
Morning diary. Not much to report really, just plodding along waiting for pay day to arrive. Must also remember to put in my expenses report this week.
Piano practice is going well, although I am giving myself the weekends off to try and do other things too. It's been a very busy week, both paid stuff and socially so I now have 3 days of the local rag to catch up up on. Also have NT magazine, recipe mag, paid stuff mag and other bits to read, so will not start another book just yet. Once I've got through all that lot, the recycling bin should be quite full.
The whole day yesterday was spent volunteering and it was such fun, a lot of time spent outside in the beautiful sunshine. I now have a distinct mark on my arms - tanned/not tanned - lovely look, I don't think.
Today is mine to do whatever I want. So first, I'm going to get in the gym and then walk the dogs.
Right, better get moving. Hope anyone reading has a great day.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Ok, so pay day is tomorrow, yay. I can start to plan for the summer. DH has found out his bonus is only about a third of what it normally is this year, company not doing so well. I have now put my expenses claim in.Spend less now, work less later.0

Morning diary. Well pay day arrived and I've kind of sorted out a plan for the month and things seem ok. This is the month that we make a final payment on one of our loans which will free up a nice chunk for us. DH and I decided that this month is a needs not wants month but to be honest already we're not doing that well. DH is buying wine which apparently he needs after a day at the paid stuff (and he is an alcoholic) and this is a summary of my spends so far this month.
Trip to cinema for Father's Day: £43.40 (could have done without this but had already promised DD and DS and booked online which cost more just to make sure we have the tickets for tomorrow)
Mobile phone credit £10 (definitely a need)
Magazine subscription (probably a want but it does work out cheaper this way)
Yesterday was a NSD for me.
Today, I am popping to Mr T with DD as I have a voucher running out today and if I don't use it I will feel like I'm throwing cash away, so I'm going to stock up on the things I like from them that they do cheaper than anyone else. I am not planning to spend on anything I don't need!
I hope anyone reading has a great day.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Ok, so two posts in one day. I did a biggish shop with DD, got some weekly bits in the village and DH bought YS stuff on his way home from the paid stuff. All in all £106 which is really good for us. And included straw to go under the strawberries.
The freezers are full, menu plan is changing slightly to allow for some of the YS stuff but all good there.
While out I also bought a mains illuminated mirror that I have wanted for literally years. Boots had discontinued them online but our local store had two it was selling off today. So instead on just £1.99 on a clear mascara (a definite need given my hayfever), I ended up spending another £25, although this was half price. So I'm really pleased and will be able to see my face properly for the first time in months.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
I have woken this morning, after a really rough night's sleep, really feeling sad for DS and his fiancee and wishing that I could turn the clock back and make the events of yesterday not happen. But they did and although the police will do their investigations and time will move on, this really will live with them forever. Sometimes as a mum you can't do anything to make things better. It's impossible. DS has said that it's his intention to still join us for Father's Day celebrations tonight, but DH has made it clear he understands if DS decides to stay with his fiancee instead. Really his place is with her. All I really want to do is cry, but that will achieve nothing and I'm so glad today that I have this diary to pour my thoughts out too.
As this is really my debt free diary, all I can report is that I have finished making a super big dog bed for my collie from an old duvet and throw. It looks great and have probably saved me at least £15.
Ok, now to try and have as normal day as possible.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Morning Jazee, not sure what has happened regarding your DS and fiancee, but I'm sending you hugs.
Take care PWPS.x0 -
Thanks PWPS. Really appreciated.Spend less now, work less later.0

Morning diary. Things are a lot calmer here now. DS didn't join us on Sunday night and I think that was a good thing. He's now returned to work so has some normality back in his life too. Anyway, as I normally only go to the cinema with free tickets and take any snacks I might need, I was really shocked at the prices. £43.10 for tickets and £17.35 for snacks even when I got the offer bundles. And the cinema was empty so I really don't think the cinema are doing themselves any favours ripping people of like this. If they reduced ticket prices and charged a fair amount for food more people might go. Rant over!
Spends wise, apart from that on Sunday, I spent £1.88 on a replacement bulb and DH spent £16.15 on more YS food for the freezer.
Yesterday was NSD 2 of our month.
Paid stuff as usual today and a trip to the vet for Sickdog. Hope everyone has a good day.Spend less now, work less later.0
