That must depend on where you shop. At my local retail park, about 20% of the spaces are for disabled drivers and they are hardly ever any cars parked in them when I visit.owen_money wrote: »It really annoys me when people whack their car door into your car in supermarket car parks. I mean how difficult it is to open a door and not hit the car next to you? I guess people who have old bangers, as its all they can afford, dont give a fig, but when you spend £30k on a car you take a bit more care.
I don't take my car shopping if I can help it. The spaces in the car parks are generally too narrow for me to get out of it easily. The risk of damage is also too high. Unfortunately. there are a lot of careless/selfish people about.0 -
I have an old banger but am careful when I open my door and get very upset if someone hits my car.
It's all about respecting other people's property which a lot of people don't seem to do.
Going back on the original subject, in my town at the local supermarket most p & c spaces are occupied by people with no children or people with older teenagers.
People are lazy and stupid, fact!My daughters are my world0 -
I shop at Waitrose as I find the people have better manners and generally have better cars, which they take more care of. People who shop at Waitrose also respect the parking bay rules and will only park where permitted. I also think generally the bays are wider in Waitrose as the have to accommodate Range Rovers and Jaguars, which are wider than ordinary cars.
You get all sorts at Asda and Aldi I would imagine many cars are not insured ot taxedOne man's folly is another man's wife. Helen Roland (1876 - 1950)0 -

I shop at Asda in Wakefield. I've never seen such a huge amount of space for disabled drivers and no matter what time of day or night I've been there (it's a 24 hour supermarket) those spaces are ALWAYS full.
The parent and child spaces are always full too and it seems to be a free for all. There is a complete lack of respect for others in our society these days and an 'all about me' mentality.
I'm not getting into an argument with anyone about the definition of disabled or how people can look fine and yet still have disabilities etc. There is a glut of people abusing blue badges and a disgusting amount of people who just don't care and park where they like.I have realised I will never play the Dane!
Where are my medals? Everyone else on here has medals!!

I take it you don't really mean dearth, but actually the opposite?0 -

This is from the blue badge website:
If you are a motorist with disabilities (or passenger) and you complain, for example, to a supermarket that a motorist without disabilities has parked in a bay for people with disabilities, an employee of the store could ask the driver to move their car from the bay, but they will not be in a position to legally insist on it.
The Blue Badge scheme does not cover supermarket car parks.0 -

You're right I'm sorry! I definitely mean the opposite! :rotfl:
I have been in hospital since 5am yesterday morning with my son after a mad dash to A&E because of his appendix.
(back home now on a 'wait and see' basis!) so am sleep deprived and in that 'too wired to sleep' but 'too sleep deprived to make much sense' state!I have realised I will never play the Dane!
